Verla Edwards (nee Jensen), precious wife of Ray Edwards of Barnwell, passed away in Bow Island on Monday, January 25, 2016 at the age of 80 years.

Relatives and friends were invited to meet with the family at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Barnwell on Thursday, January 28, 2016 between 7:00 P.M. and 8:00 P.M. and also at the church prior to the funeral service on Friday, January 29, 2016 between 1:00 P.M. and 1:40 P.M.

The Funeral Service was held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Barnwell on Friday, January 29, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. Burial followed at the Barnwell Cemetery.

Besides her loving husband Ray, she is survived by their children Lynn (Deb) Edwards of Bow Island (currently serving a church mission in Romania/Muldova), Cheryl (Gene) Collicutt of Cardston, Shauna (Randy) Leavitt of Lethbridge, Pam (John) Sullivan of Ogden, Utah, Denise (Rick) Curliss of Bow Island and Lori (Perry) Froc of Melfort, Saskatchewan; twenty eight grandchildren and forty seven great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters Rissa (Garth) Nelson of Mountain View, Julane (Gordon) Childs of Red Deer, Deanne (Ron) Hancock of Raymond, Zelma (Rod) Rice of Wisconsin, Rea (Dennis) Fenske of Barnwell (currently serving a church mission in Toronto West/Toronto) and by numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents Hazel (nee Matkin) and Wes Jensen.

Verla was born on May 2, 1935 in Barnwell where she was raised and proud to call it home. She loved children, especially babies and enjoyed music, sewing, quilting, gardening, flowers and serving her family and community.

She served two church missions with Ray, spent many years in the Scouting program and also in the Daughters of Utah Pioneers organization. Verla and Ray were Temple workers in Cardston for ten years and active in the Barnwell 55 Club.
