Jim Rutherford

1939 - 2016

James Robert Rutherford, passed away in Taber with his niece Patti by his side on Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at the age of 76 years.

He is survived by four children Jimmie, Kimberly (Jim Cowie), Jennifer and Deanna and by his extended family.

He was predeceased by his parents George and Annie Rutherford, sister Catherine Brown and extended family Agnes Appleton, Margaret Bellman, Jean Mulner, Joe Kinniburgh and David Kinniburgh.

Jim was born in Lethbridge on November 20, 1939 to George and Annie Rutherford. He was raised on the family farm eight miles south of Purple Springs. As a young boy, he attended the Hudson and Deer Park one room schools and received his high school education in Grassy Lake.

Jim apprenticed at Hi-Way Service as a mechanic for a short time before starting in the plumbing trade in Calgary. In 1960, he met Mona Nesterguard and they were married the following year. He worked as a plumber and pipefitter for many years, residing in Calgary, Bragg Creek, Okotoks and finally in Blackie.

After Mona's passing in 1972, he carried on with his life as best he could. For the last twenty years, he was fortunate to live with his friend Jerry Philpot.

Anyone that knew Jim, knew he loved fast cars and there was no such thing as a bad beer, just some better than others.

Jim will be privately remembered by his family and friends.
