Roy Wagner

1930 - 2017

It is with great sadness that we mourn the passing of Rochus Frank Wagner, who was called home to the Lord on Monday, January 16, 2017 at the age of 86 years with his loving wife Anne by his side.

Relatives and friends were invited to Prayers at Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Thursday, January 19, 2017 at 5:00 P.M.

The Funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Augustine's Catholic Church, 5009 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Friday, January 20, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. Burial followed at the Taber Memorial Garden.

Besides Anne, his loving wife of sixty four years, he is survived by his son Allan (Janet) Wagner of Taber and their family Chad Wagner, Tasha (Kelly) Hanke (their children Samantha, Madison and Kyler); son Robert (Rhonda) Wagner of Taber and their family Kayley (Chase) Jensen (their daughter Everly), Jared (Michelle) Wagner (their children Stacey and Scarlette. He is also survived by two sisters Fanny Guckert of Medicine Hat and Terry (Don) Taylor of Edmonton; sisters-in-law Sally Wagner of Leader, Saskatchewan and Francis Wagner of Cabri, Saskatchewan as well as brother-in-law Gene (Victoria) Volk of Airdrie.

Dad was born June 22, 1930 in Prelate, Saskatchewan. He worked for CP Rail for thirty five years until he retired at age fifty five for health reasons. This gave him time to enjoy his passions of wood working, gardening, camping and spending time with family and friends. No matter where he went he could strike up a conversation with anyone, even sitting on a bench in the mall. Roy’s other passion was playing the accordian wherever and whenever he could. Dad and mom enjoyed volunteering. They volunteered at the hospital for ten years and dad was a pastoral care minister for ten years with mom by his side. Roy enjoyed visiting with family, friends and loved when his grandchildren would visit him.

If friends so desire, memorial tributes in Roy’s name may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Alberta, Box 2211, Lethbridge, Alberta T1J 4K7 www.heartandstroke.com.

The family would like to thank Dr. Beckie and Dr. Armstrong for the wonderful care that they have given dad over the years.
