MARG LEWIS
1925 - 2012

Margaret Gwyneth Lewis (nee Parry), beloved wife of the late Bob Lewis, passed away peacefully in Taber on Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at the age of 86 years after a brief illness.
Relatives and friends are invited to meet with the family at the Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Friday, January 6, 2012 between 7:00 P.M. and 8:00 P.M.
The Funeral Service will be held at the Knox United Church, 4929 - 50 Avenue, Taber on Saturday, January 7, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. with Reverend Sandra Riddell officiating. Burial to follow at the Taber Memorial Garden.
Marg is survived by her children Laura (Bill) Tempany of Calgary, Tom Lewis of Keg River and Tim (Deb) Lewis of Taber; nine grandchildren Tim (Siobhan) Tempany, Ted Tempany (Krista Andrews) and Will (Autumn) Tempany, Shane and Corey Lewis and Tara (Mark) Coney, Jeff (Kalee) Lewis, Becky (Lorne Passey) Vincent and Diana (Kevin) Zimmer and sixteen great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Nellie Ellingson, two sisters-in-law Margaret McKibben, Clara Parry and numerous nieces and nephews.
Marg was predeceased by her husband of nearly sixty years, Robert Lewis; three brothers Emrys, Phil and Elwyn Parry; sister-in-law Julie Parry; two brothers-in-law Earl Ellingson and Ross McKibben.
Marg was born June 21, 1925 in Ford City, County of Essex, Ontario, to Kate and Jack Parry. She will be remembered by all for her strong will, love of life and all animals; her contributions to the Knox United Church choir and United Church Women, the Legion Auxiliary, the sports she participated in which included championship level badminton, curling, golf, water skiing and anything else that involved participation and competition. Marg’s zest for life, inability to pass up a challenge, incredible work ethic and creativity allowed her to build a life with Bob on the harsh prairie with water supplied in buckets from the local coulee, heat in the one car garage from a single gas stove, kerosene refrigerator and everyone huddling around a folding table for great meals that always appeared from what little was on hand. She had challenges like the baby’s wet diaper freezing to the floor in the garage so once the kids got past those tender moments, they moved into the house that they called home for the next forty years. Together, Bob and Marg ran a very successful operation and in the later years enjoyed travel with friends to Europe, Hawaii and even Mexico on one occasion.
Marg always enjoyed the company of other people whether traveling, singing in the church choir or spending Saturday nights wherever there was a dance happening. Bob and Marg were the quintessential bebop couple and jived like there was no tomorrow into the late seventies. Music was a large part of Marg’s life and the songs she sang to her family are a fond remembrance of the gentleness of a great woman that never let “I can’t” be part of anything in her life. Marg was thrilled by her great granddaughters playing the piano for her at the lodge and the music goes on. She will be missed by family, friends and the many people whose lives she touched.
If friends so desire, memorial tributes in Marg’s name may be made directly to the Knox United Church, 4929 - 50 Avenue, Taber, Alberta T1G 1H7 and designate for the dishwasher fund.

During the nineties he became interested in Lylla’s hobby of stained glass and soon they were spending their winters constructing memorial windows for the Foremost United Church (eight in all). This

Bob was born in Knee Path (now Cranford), Alberta on May 17, 1923 and lived there, except for postings during the war, until moving into Taber from the farm five years ago. Bob was a great farmer, auto restorer, aircraft builder, enthusiast and pilot and worked on his hobbies at the farm up until a couple of years ago. During the war Bob was posted at various sites across the prairies and was an airframe mechanic responsible for repair and maintenance of aircraft and made many lifetime friends during his time in the Airforce. Bob was an active participant in the Royal Canadian Legion for many years and spent many a fun time on Saturday nights dancing up a storm with his beloved Marg. Bob was a very strong person in every regard and accomplished much during his 85 years. He built a large irrigation farm, raised three strong children and built many of the toys he enjoyed sharing with his family so much. From the gyrocopter, speed boats and aircraft to most of the furniture in their original home, nothing was daunting to Bob when something needed to be done. Bob was respected in the community for his helpful nature, fun loving approach to life and always had time to stop for coffee or libation's when friends dropped in. Bob will be missed by all who knew him and his family and extended family will miss the sage advice and dry wit we all grew to know and love.
Relatives and friends are invited to meet with the family at the Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Thursday, August 14, 2008 between 7:00 P.M. and 8:00 P.M.

If friends so desire, memorial tributes in Bob’s name can me made directly to the Royal Canadian Legion in Taber, 5205 - 48 Avenue, Taber, Alberta T1G 1S8. As a lifelong member, Bob always made time to do chores required by the Legion.
