BONNIE MAROSE
1956 - 2012


Bonnie Laureen Marose, beloved wife of Darrel Marose, passed away in Taber on Thursday, January 19, 2012 at the age of 55 years.
Relatives and friends are invited to meet with the family at the Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Monday, January 23, 2012 between 7:00 P.M. and 8:00 P.M.
The Funeral Service will be held at Knox United Church, 4929 - 50 Avenue, Taber on Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. with Reverend Sandra Riddell officiating. Burial to follow at the Taber Memorial Garden.
Besides her loving husband Darrel, she is survived by her son Scott (Dallas) Marose of Lethbridge and their children Austin and Hailey; daughter Kerri Marose (Kent) of Taber; parents Alvin & Gladys Scramstad of Barnwell; siblings Cheryl (John) Peleskey of Taber and their children Jordan (Michelle) Biegler, Jarred (Annie) Peleskey and Landon (Stacey) Peleskey and family; Denise (Kevin) Keenan of Brooks and their children Travis (Katelyn) Keenan and family and Brennan Keenan; Lorrie Lynn (Don) Bowman of Lethbridge and their children Michael (Chantal) Bowman and Kyla Bowman. She is also survived by her mother-in-law Dora Marose of Taber; brother-in-law Marvin (Kim) Marose of Taber and their children Coralee (Keith) Lubbers and family and Chad Marose; sister-in-law Norma (Delace) Rombough of High River and their daughter Charlane (Scott) McDougall and family.
She was predeceased by her father-in-law Douglas Marose and nephew Craig Rombough.
Bonnie was born on February 9, 1956 in Virden, Manitoba to Alvin and Gladys Scramstad. The family moved to Barnwell in 1965. Bonnie had many fond memories of growing up in Barnwell with her three sisters. In 1977 Bonnie married Darrel Marose and together they had two children, Scott and Kerri. They moved to a farm southeast of Taber where they farmed and raised their family. Bonnie worked for nineteen years as an office manager for Chin Ridge Seeds. She enjoyed vacationing, camping with family and friends, spending time with her grandchildren and the companionship of many wonderful friends through her bible study. She will be lovingly remembered by her family and friends.

ED MALINSKY
1928 - 2011


Edward Malinsky passed away in Taber on Thursday, December 15, 2011 at the age of 83 years.
A private family burial service will be held at the Taber Memorial Garden on Wednesday, December 21, 2011.
Ed will be missed by his sisters-in-law Mary Malinsky and Elaine Malinsky both of Taber as well as nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents; five older brothers John, Nick, Bill, Alex and George; three older sisters Mary Crow, Dolly Douglas and Helen Malinsky; sisters-in-law May Malinsky and Gladys "Bunty" Malinsky; brothers-in-law Raymond Crow and Bud Douglas.
Ed was born in Taber on August 18, 1928 the son of Dan and Annie Malinsky.
He attended school grades one to twelve in Taber after which he journeyed to British Columbia where he was employed in a logging camp on Vancouver Island as a Signaller (whistle punk).
Ed enlisted in the Canadian Army in March 1948 and served until October 1968 with the Royal Canadian Engineers. During his service he was posted to bases in British Columbia, Alberta, Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec, and New Brunswick. He also served in Korea during the Korean War, West Germany, Egypt and two and a half years with the Airborne Engineers.
After retirement from the Armed Forces he was employed with the Burndy Canada Ltd. supply and service office for seven years in Calgary. In 1975 he returned to Southern Alberta and Lethbridge where he secured employment with the Canada Post Office and remained there for the next eleven years. In 1986 he transferred to Vancouver, working for two years in the Vancouver Mail Processing Plant. In August 1988 Ed requested early retirement and moved to Kelowna, British Columbia. He remained in Kelowna for one year after which he was most happy to return to Alberta and Lethbridge to be near his family and “Postie” friends, with whom he regularly played floor hockey until he was sixty three years of age.
Ed was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Taber Branch, Army, Navy and Air Force Veterans Lethbridge Branch, Korea Veterans Association of Canada, Lethbridge Y.M.C.A. for twenty years and the Federal Superannuates National Association. He was also a member of the Fort Macleod Golf Club for several years. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

IAN MATHESON
1981 - 2011


Ian Michael Matheson passed away peacefully in Victoria, British Columbia on Sunday, August 28, 2011 at the age of 30 years.
A private family service will be held in Edmonton.
Ian is survived by his parents Kay & Martin Matheson of Barons; two brothers Bryan Matheson and David Matheson both of Edmonton; grandparents Peggy & Leroy Matheson of Edmonton and by numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Hattie & Harold DeBow.
Ian was born July 31, 1981 in Surrey, British Columbia. He was a talented artist who loved to draw. We will all miss him deeply. Ian will always be remembered as a loving and caring person, someone who would never burden others with his problems.

CATERINA MILLO
1920 - 2011


Caterina “Nona” Millo (nee Persel), beloved wife of the late Matteo Millo, passed away peacefully in Taber on Thursday, August 4, 2011 at the age of 90 years.
Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers at the Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Sunday, August 7, 2011 at 6:00 P.M.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Augustine’s Catholic Church, 5009 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Monday, August 8, 2011 at 10:30 A.M. with Reverend Vincent TuanHa Celebrant. Burial to follow at the Taber Memorial Garden.
Nona is survived and will be dearly missed by her daughter-in-law Zorka Millo of Taber, grandchildren Bernard (Wendy) Millo of Taber and their children Jordyn & Rylan; Richard (Alison) Millo of Taber and their children Kade, Kennedy & Jett; Lloyd Millo (Stephanie Finstad) of Taber and their children Jaela & Jaeden; and Lenny Millo of Taber; her daughter Livia (Louis) Sich of Trochu, grandchildren Anita (Chris) Palacz of Calgary and their children Carly & Ella; Dr. Martin (Kelly) Sich of Three Hills and Ivan Sich of Trochu. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews in Italy.
She was predeceased by her husband Matteo in 1971, her son Nereo in 2007, her parents and all four brothers and three sisters and their spouses.
Nona was born in Verteneglio, Italy on September 1, 1920 to Rosa (nee Pauluzi) & Francesco Persel. In her early twenties she met and married local farm boy, Matteo Millo on December 5, 1940. In March of 1957 together with their two children, they immigrated to Canada and settled in the Taber area. They began working on several area farms doing work which included hoeing beets, picking rocks, grading potatoes and picking vegetables for the local farmers. After four years of hard work and saving, they purchased a farm near Barnwell. One year later, they sold that farm and purchased another larger farm north of Taber.
Nona was a very determined and hard working woman. In addition to her daily duties on the farm she loved sewing by hand, knitting and cooking. Following her challenge with breast cancer in 1974, Nona battled through this, subsequently living cancer free for thirty seven years.
In January 1976 she moved off of the farm and into a house in Taber. She resided there on her own until 2007 when she moved into the Taber Extended Care. Nona thoroughly enjoyed being there surrounded by others. She especially enjoyed the exercise activities and loved all the music.

DOLLY MELLEN
1932 - 2011


Lillian Dolores “Dolly” Mellen, beloved wife of Fred Mellen of Bow Island, passed away in Camrose on Tuesday, May 31, 2011 at the age of 79 years with her son Shaun by her side.
The Funeral Service will be held at St. Andrew's United Church, 139 - 2 Avenue West, Bow Island on Friday, June 3, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. with Pastor Sheila McLeod officiating.
Dolly will be forever missed by her loving husband Fred Mellen and their children, Michelle White of Lethbridge and Shaun (Margaret) Mellen of Edmonton. Grandma Dolly loved to visit with her grandchildren Spencer, Tyler and Ariel White of Lethbridge; Jessica (Russell Bridgeman) Mellen of Warburg; Amie, Angie, Christie, Brandon and Kaylie Mellen of Edmonton; great granddaughter Bryn Bridgeman of Warburg. She will also be remembered by her brother Wayne (Gerry) Annon of Hanford, California, sister-in-law Helene (Bill) Taylor of Airdrie, brothers-in-law Jack Mitchell of Orleans, Ontario and Rollie Havens.
Dolly was predeceased by her father Joseph Annon and mother Viola Annon; sisters Ila Terry, Audrey Mitchell, Joanne Havens; little brother Lawrence Annon and brother-in-law Bus Terry.
A true coalminer's daughter, Dolly was born in Bow Island and spent the first years of her life on the Annon coalmine north of town until the beginning of World War II when the family moved into Bow Island. After high school she moved to Lethbridge and worked at the Royal Bank. Dolly moved back to Bow Island to marry her true love Fred Mellen. She also worked at the Treasury Branch in Bow Island and finished her working career with the Saint Mary River Irrigation District while Fred worked on the top floor for most of her career there.
Dolly loved swing music and she and Fred travelled far and wide to dance the night away. She was also involved in the community, being a long time member of the O.O.R.P. and a Past Honoured Royal Lady of the organization. Dolly was also secretary treasurer of the Low Income Housing Association and secretary of the Southern Alberta Summer Games. She also aided Fred in most of his posts and positions that he held with the town over many decades.
After retirement Fred and Dolly loved to travel and especially loved to visit their favourite gambling spots. During the summer, Dolly could be found outside in the garden and even had one of the best bean pots in town. She was also a prolific reader and there were many books passed back and forth between her, her cousins and sisters-in-law.
Dolly will be remembered by all for her beauty, class, kindness and hospitality.

NICK MARCHUK
1930 - 2011


Nick Marchuk passed away peacefully in Lethbridge surrounded by his family on Thursday, May 12, 2011.

Left to cherish Nick’s memory is his wife of 59 and a half years, Pat; sons Larry (Barb) Marchuk of Picture Butte, Garry (Deborah) Marchuk of Beaver Mines, Grant Marchuk of Lethbridge, Brant Marchuk of Lethbridge; daughter Linda (Terry) Zuber of Rocky Mountain House; fourteen grandchildren, six great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers Dan (Peggy) Marchuk and John (Edna) Marchuk; sisters Ann Dyck, Violet Sears and Kathy (Mick) Turner as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his son Bradley Allan Marchuk; parents William and Lean Marchuk; his brother Michael and sisters Mabel
Sandieson and Margaret Jacoby.
Nick was born on November 17, 1930 on the family homestead in the Burgis district of Saskatchewan. He was the sixth child of nine children born to William and Lena Marchuk. He acquired his education at Poplar Springs School. Nick moved to Yorkton where he met his future wife Pat. Nick and Pat had six children. After living in Yorkton for twenty one years, Nick and Pat moved to Lethbridge, Fort Macleod, Purple Springs and then back to Lethbridge where they have resided for the past twelve years.
Nick led a busy, hard-working life. His accomplishments included building and running many successful businesses. He would count his large family as his greatest success. The door at the Marchuk household was always open. If it wasn’t some of the many family members coming and going, it was friends coming for a visit or a game of cards. A gathering wasn’t complete without a game of cards and endless story telling. Nick was especially fond of pranks, teasing and practical jokes – all followed by fits of laughter. Humour was a communication tool that Nick has mastered. He was a kind, proud man. Nick lived a full life – full of hard work, full of family, full of stories and mostly, full of love!

ERROL MCINTOSH
1938 - 2011

John Swan Errol McIntosh, beloved husband of Anne McIntosh (nee Thomas), passed away in Hays on Thursday, May 5, 2011 at the age of 73 years.
Erroll will be privately remembered by his family and friends.
Besides his loving wife Anne, Errol is survived by three children Joe McIntosh of Lethbridge, Tammy McIntosh of Lethbridge and Debbie (Jon) Pinelli of Salt Lake City, Utah.
Errol was born April 17, 1938 in Semans, Saskatchewan to Clifford & Wilma (nee Cole) McIntosh. He married Anne in Calgary on June 18, 1969. In the early eighties, they settled at Hays where they raised their family. Errol was employed as a Heavy Machine Operator for many years prior to his retirement. He will be sadly missed and fondly remembered.

ROSS MCKIBBEN
1935 - 2011


Alan Ross McKibben, husband of Marg McKibben, passed away in Taber, surrounded by his family on Thursday, May 5, 2011 at the age of 75 years.

Born the eldest of five children to Harry and Jean McKibben, Ross married Margaret Lewis in 1957 and together they raised their three children Mitch McKibben (Samantha Lewis) of Nanton, Keely McKibben (Terry Kading) of Kamloops, British Columbia and Sandra (Sean) Bodie of Sherwood Park. The family grew with the marriages of their children and over time was joyously blessed with the births of seven grandchildren Mitch & Launa’s (nee Donaldson) children Delaney McKibben (Brandon Wintoniak) and Aidan; Mitch & Samantha’s son Xavier; Sandra and Sean’s children Alexandra, Matthew, Noah and Christian; great grandchildren Madison and Bentley Wintoniak, children of Delaney and Brandon. Ross really loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Also remembering Ross are his younger siblings Keith McKibben of Enchant, Beth (Gerald) Ingram of Taber, Ken McKibben (Gerry Renner) of Taber and Joyce (Keith) Petersen of Taber; sister-in-law Margaret Lewis of Taber as well as many wonderful nieces, nephews, cousins and friends that will carry Ross forward in their memories.
He was predeceased by parents Harry and Jean McKibben; brother-in-law Bob Lewis.
Ross’ greatest passion was sports. For seventy five years there was scarcely a time when he wasn’t playing, watching or behind the scenes in sports. Whether it be baseball, hockey, curling or golf, he loved them all. His love of sports was highlighted by his trip to Toronto to compete in the Canadian Farmers 1965 curling playdowns, as well as his work with the Taber Golden Suns and his ownership of the Lethbridge Broncos. The Toronto Blue Jays had a life long fan in Ross.
After Ross and Marg sold the farm in the early 1980’s, they moved in to Taber and Ross became a cattle buyer. It was at this time in his life he developed a real love for gardening. His perennial flower beds were a particular source of peace and pride for him.
The last three years of Ross’ life were lived in the extended care facility in Taber. Between the new friends he made there and the care he received, he was happy and comfortable. For this his family is very grateful.

HELEN MILLER
1921 - 2011


Helen Mildred Miller (nee Judkins), beloved wife of the late Robert Miller, passed away in Bow Island on Thursday, April 28, 2011 at the age of 90 years.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, 1113 - 1 Street East, Bow Island on Monday, May 2, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. with Reverend Vincent TuanHa Celebrant. A private family burial will follow at the Bow Island Cemetery.
Her memory will be forever cherished by her children, Dolores (John) Hopkins of Fort Saskatchewan; Roberta Roth of Lundbreck; Howard (Anne) Miller of Bow Island; Juanita (Lorne) Schlachter of Bow Island; Kathy (Cyril) Bertsch of Coalhurst; Yvonne (Ron) Schultz of Red Deer; Dan (Chris) Miller of Medicine Hat; Shelley (Gary) Yates of Bow Island; she was also a proud grandmother to fourteen grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren. She is also survived by three sisters-in-law June Judkins, Leona Weeks, Gerri Miller and by numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Robert; grandsons Robert Miller and Blake Elliott; sons-in-law Warren Van Tassell and Lester Roth; brother Neil Judkins; sister Violet Grubert and numerous in-laws.
Helen was born on February 23, 1921 at Mawer, Saskatchewan. She lived at Lucky Lake, Saskatchewan and also Grande Prairie. While working in Grande Prairie she met and married Robert Miller. They briefly lived in Halifax, Nova Scotia before moving to Burdett where they farmed for many years. After Robert’s passing, Helen moved to Bow Island where she has resided until the time of her passing.

ERLING MATTSON
1917 - 2011


Erling Toro Mattson, beloved husband of Martha Mattson, passed away peacefully in Taber on Wednesday, February 2, 2011 at the age of 93 years.

The Funeral Service will be held at the Knox United Church, 4929 - 50 Avenue, Taber on Saturday, February 5, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. with Reverend Sandra Riddell officiating. A private family burial will be held at the Saamis Prairie View Cemetery, Medicine Hat.
Besides his loving wife Martha, Erling is survived by their children Rodney (Loretta) Mattson of Hays, Gordon (Milma) Mattson of Coaldale, Elaine (Richard) Barton of Valleyview, Arnold (Vickie) Mattson of Edmonton; grandchildren Brad, Shelley, Karri, Sherri, Destinee, Tandis, Krystle, Clinton, Allison and Matt; great grandchildren Caydince, Andrew, Jasmine and Jordan; great great grandchildren Chelsia and Airi. He is also survived by foster children Marie Wachter and Twyla Wachter; two sisters Edna Caswell and Ruth Bohnet both of Bow Island; sister-in-law Margaret Mattson of Medicine Hat and by numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents Axel & Alma Mattson; brothers Harold Mattson and Chester Mattson; brothers-in-law Ted Caswell and Mike Bohnet.
Erling was born in Lewistown, Montana September 30, 1917 and settled with his family in Orion, Alberta as a small child. He was raised with two brothers, Chester and Harold and two sisters, Edna and Ruth. He met the love of his life in Orion and in 1942, married Martha Miller. It was shortly after that when Erling decided to enlist in the army and he moved to Calgary. When the war was over, his desire was to return to the farm at Orion. It was here that four children were born, Arnold, Elaine, Gordon and Rodney. In 1954, Erling and his family moved to Hays. Irrigation of the land was new to Erling but being a man of many trades, he was able to build his own home, farm the land and if anything needed fixing, Erling was the one to do it. In 1981 he and Martha retired and moved to Taber and the Clearview Lodge became their final home together. He was a very community minded individual. Erling was the first 4-H leader in Hays, belonging to many organizations and enjoyed curling, fishing, woodworking and camping. He never missed an opportunity to visit with friends and family. Erling will be sadly missed but fondly remembered by all.

GABE MEZEI
1919 - 2011


Gabriel Mezei, beloved husband of Marta Mezei of Vauxhall, passed away in Taber on Wednesday, January 26, 2011 at the age of 91 years.
The Funeral Service will be held at the Vauxhall Mennonite Brethren Church, 320 - 9 Street North, Vauxhall on Saturday, January 29, 2011 at 3:00 P.M. with Pastor Ken Easterbrook officiating. Burial to follow at the Vauxhall Cemetery.
Besides his loving wife Marta, he is survived by his children Barbara (Mervin) Mardian of Dunmore, Crystal (Glenn) Moore of Calgary and Danny “Denny” (Liz) Mezei of Scandia; grandchildren Bobbie-Jo (Jason) Waite, Candice (Allan) Hubbard, Travis Moore, Devon Mezei, Delwyn Mezei and Brett Kerner; great grandchildren Cadence & Ty Hubbard and Corbin Waite. He is also survived by his sister Julia (Joe) Eder of High River and by numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents Alex & Julia Mezei, daughter Adeline Mezei, granddaughter Dee-Ann Mezei, sister Helen Varga, brother Tibor Mezei and brother-in-law Eugene Varga.
Gabe was born July 7, 1919 in Hungary to Alex and Julia Mezei. He immigrated to Canada on March 21, 1933 and settled in Retlaw. Gabe met Marta Link in May of 1951 and they were married June that same year. He farmed for many years. They resided in Medicine Hat from 1965 to 1978 where he was employed by the City of Medicine Hat while farming at Seven Persons. In 1978 they moved to Vauxhall where Gabe and Marta owned and operated the car wash until the mid eighties. Gabe enjoyed working in the yard and fishing. In 2001 Gabe traveled to Hungary. He was a member of the Retlaw Historical Society and assisted with the restoration of the Retlaw Church.

1939 - 2011


It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear husband, father, grandfather and son, James Lawrence McInnes, after a short but courageous battle with cancer on Saturday, January 15, 2011 at the age of 71 years.
A private family service will be held.
Lawrence is survived by his wife Sharon; daughters Lisa McInnes of Kelowna, British Columbia, Kori McInnes of Innisfail and Kathryn Patras of Innisfail; sons Mark Paskowski of Edmonton and Dean (Paula) Paskowski of Rosemary. He is also survived by his mother Myrtle; grandchildren Brandi (Mike), Kaulin (Karen), Trevor, Andrew, Levi, Nicholas, Alexander, Riley and Katie; great granddaughters Hannah and Isabelle; sister-inlaw Jean McInnes as well as numerous other family members.
He was predeceased by his first wife Marion; brothers Allan and Orville McInnes; father James McInnes; son-in-law Dennis Sincennes; grandson Taylor Bourque; sister-in-law Melissa Lee McInnes.
Lawrence was born in Westhope, North Dakota on August 7, 1939. He was raised and educated in Lyleton, Manitoba. After school Lawrence started driving truck, making this his lifelong profession. Lawrence owned and operated his own trucking company in Innisfail for a number of years. He later moved to Taber where he became employed with Hostess Frito Lay until his retirement in 2008. Lawrence’s passion was to spend time with family and friends. He had a great sense of humour, always making jokes and teasing the grandchildren. Another one of his passions was his 1956 Lincoln, which he loved to tinker with. He enjoyed taking it to car shows all over Alberta.

Margaret Malm, beloved wife of Clayton Malm of Enchant, passed away unexpectedly at the Chinook Regional Hospital with her family at her side on Thursday, December 23, 2010 at the age of 65 years.

She is also survived by six sisters Dolly (Larry) Craft of Sparwood, Sharon (Larry) Shaw of Lethbridge, Judy (Dennis) Brooks of New Dayton, Rose Busato of Sparwood, Dixie (Paul) Plettl of Vauxhall, Kathleen (Helmut) Brandt of Lundbreck; two brothers Mickey (Cherie) Barca of Brooks, Tom (Diane) Barca of Red Deer and by numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents Mike & Rita Barca and brothers Sonny, Larry and Jim Barca.
Margaret was born on December 17, 1945 in Taber. She married Clayton Malm on August 19, 1968 in Shelby, Montana. She had been employed by the Municipal District of Taber for the past fourteen years. Margaret had a love for all the flowers in her garden, listening to country music and for her pets. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Eligius Florence McNiven, beloved wife of the late Joe McNiven, passed away in Taber on Monday, November 1, 2010 at the age of 87 years.

Ellie was born October 16, 1923 in Loverna, Saskatchewan to Thomas and Elizabeth Cassidy. In 1932 she moved with her family to the Vauxhall area. She attended school in Vauxhall and later went to Normal School in Calgary. Ellie taught school with the Taber School Division for five years. She married Joseph McNiven on January 11, 1947. After selling their farm in 1950, Joe and Ellie moved to Vauxhall where they purchased the “Koffee Kup” cafeteria. They started the “Vauxhall Brick Factory”. In 1960, they started their own construction business “Joe McNiven Excavating” until they retired in 1979. Ellie enjoyed travelling, golfing and curling; her passion was painting but most of all she loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren. She will be lovingly remembered by her family and friends.

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Ewen Robert MacKenzie announce his passing after a courageous battle with cancer on Friday, October 22, 2010 at the age of 68 years.

Ewen is survived by three sisters Agnes (Joe) Chrumka of Vancouver, Katherine (George) Becker of Okotoks and Sandra (Barry) Kinniburgh of Taber; sister-in-law Bernice Mackenzie of Brooks and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, two brothers Alister MacKenzie, Gordon MacKenzie and a nephew Robert MacKenzie.
Ewen was born in Taber April 4, 1942, the son of Ewen & Catherine MacKenzie. He was employed with Canada Safeway for forty three years before retiring in 2002. He will be fondly remembered by his “Safeway family” who meant so much to him. Ewen was active in numerous sports; a hockey player, coach and an avid golfer. He will be forever remembered as a loving brother and a favourite uncle.

BUD MACMURCHY
1931 - 2010


Donald Bruce “Bud” MacMurchy, beloved husband of Marg MacMurchy of Taber, passed away surrounded by his family on Monday, October 11, 2010 at the age of 79 years.
A private family service was held.
Besides Marg, his loving wife of 56 years, Bud is survived by his children Jill (Dave) Jespersen of Taber and their children Brody (Jodie) Jespersen and Jori (Jesse Bond) Jespersen; Bruce (Janine) MacMurchy of Taber and their children Kristin (Ashley) Skiba (great grandchildren Walker & Maizie Skiba) and Kevin MacMurchy; Kim (Ronnie) Thibodeau of Cranford and their children Tenille (Wade) Miller and Logan Thibodeau. He is also survived by his step brothers Burke “Joe” (Marg) Barton of Regina, Barry (Viv) Barton of Regina, Glen (Gail) Barton of Vancouver and numerous nieces, nephews and in-laws.
He was predeceased by his parents Don & Reta MacMurchy, step mother Cecile MacMurchy, brother Jack MacMurchy, step brother Jerry Barton, step sisters-in-law Doris Barton, Pat Barton and his in-laws Peter & Margaret Braun.
Bud was born in Regina on February 16, 1931. He was active in athletics all through his high school years. In 1950 he moved to Taber and in 1952 began his employment with Canadian Western Natural Gas. On November 12, 1954, Bud married Marg Braun. In 1956, he took a transfer to Crossfield where they started their family and made numerous friends. In 1964 Bud, Marg and the children moved back to Taber. His career with the gas company spanned forty years, retiring in 1992. After his retirement, Bud was able to focus on his passion for golf. When he wasn’t golfing, Bud kept busy working part time for the Taber Cold Beer & Liquor Store. Bud’s enjoyment of both curling and golf led to him serving on both of their executives. He was also a member of the Taber Volunteer Fire Department. Shortly after he finished working for the liquor store in 2008, his health began failing. He fought a long and hard battle the last two years. We are so proud of him. There are no words to describe how much he will be missed.

Patricia Joan Martin, beloved wife of the late Edward Martin of Warner, passed away quietly after a brief battle with cancer at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Friday, September 3, 2010 at the age of 72 years.
A Celebration of Pat’s life will be held at the Taber Youth Centre, 1 km north of 64 Avenue on 50 Street, Taber on Saturday September 11, 2010 from 1:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M.
Pat is survived by her children Nora Lee (David) Wozny of Bellville, Ontario; Owen Martin of Warner; Shaunine (Darren) Barber of Owen Sound, Ontario; Ed Martin of Barnwell; Maureen (Kevin) Eliasson of Stewartstown, Pennsylvania; eleven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters-in-law, Alice McKinnon of Edmonton, Moragh Campbell-Hope of Victoria, British Columbia as well as by numerous other relatives and her beloved cat Megan.
She was predeceased by her husband Edward Martin, her parents and two brothers, Bryan Campbell-Hope and Alden Campbell-Hope.
Pat was born July 5, 1938 in Edmonton. She married Edward Martin on August 21, 1961. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Pat was an active member of the Lions Club of Warner - serving as President at the time of her passing, she was involved with TOPS, the Warner Seniors and was the oldest member of the Taber Paintball Association. She will be lovingly remembered by her family and friends.

YAHN MANGOLD
1969 - 2010


Yahn David Mangold was taken from us unexpectedly on Friday, September 3, 2010 at the age of 40 years.
The Funeral Service will be held at the College Drive Community Church, 2710 College Drive South, Lethbridge on Friday, September 10, 2010 at 10:00 A.M. with Pastor Carl Bogda of Peace Lutheran Church officiating. A private family burial to follow at Mountain View Cemetery.
He leaves to mourn his partner Misty Fleming and their daughter, his “Superstar” Alexis Ann. Yahn is also survived by his parents Arland and Rosemary Mangold; Misty’s parents Clark and Margaret Fleming; Misty’s brother Aaron; sister Lori Vincent and family as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, co-workers and friends, especially Tom and Colin.
Yahn was born on October 24, 1969 in Medicine Hat. He commenced school in the Crowsnest Pass, Bellevue, continued at St. Patrick’s and St. Mary’s and graduated from W.R. Myers School in Taber. Yahn attended the University of Denver at Denver, Colorado where he lived for a period of time. After spending time away he discovered that immediate family was very important to him, so he moved back to Taber and started his career in recreation. After years in Taber he chose to move to Lethbridge, and started working for the City of Lethbridge in the Recreation Department, where he worked till his passing.
Yahn was a very happy, vibrant person, who loved to help other people. He was a doting and caring father to Alexis Ann. He was always there for his friends and family, whether it be helping with the little things or doing the things that no one wanted to do.
Yahn was a kind and gentle person with an enormous capacity for empathy. At times quiet and soulful, he also had a laugh that could transform any moment…palpable to all who had the privilege of knowing him. We cry because we miss you, but our hearts smile because we were a part of your journey. In memory of Yahn a tree will be planted by his family in the Ken McDonald Memorial Sports Park.

MARGARET MOSS
1917 - 2010


Margaret Washington Moss of Lethbridge, beloved wife of the late William Leonard Moss, passed away peacefully at the Good Samaritan West Highland Centre in Lethbridge on Sunday, May 9, 2010 just thirteen days short of her 93rd birthday.
She is survived by her children, daughter-in-law Caran McKenzie of Raymond, Beth (Don) MacLean of Spruce Grove, Harry (Judy) Moss of Vegreville, Marilyn (Jay) Peterson of Barnwell and Brenda (Stan) May of Lethbridge; thirteen grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Gladys MacKenzie of Calgary, brother Norval Elhorn, sister-in-law Jess Elhorn of Edmonton and by numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Bill (1964); two sons, Ronnie (1974) and Tom (1976); two sisters, Helen Elhorn and Phyllis (Oliver) Ingram; three brothers, Alvin (Ruth), Harry, Ron (Iris) and brother-in-law Bob MacKenzie.
Margaret was born in Calgary on May 22, 1917 and raised in Botha. She married William “Bill” Moss in Edmonton in 1942. They later moved to Lethbridge for a short time prior to settling in Foremost where they owned and operated Rexall Drug Store. Margaret lived in Foremost for forty five years before finally moving to Lethbridge in 1988.
Margaret was always active in the United Church and was awarded a UCW Life Membership. She enjoyed cups of tea with friends and family, knitting and music. Following her retirement, Margaret enjoyed Common Ground, ceramics and The Senior’s Centre.
A private family Burial Service will take place at Mountain View Cemetery, Lethbridge prior to the Funeral Service on Thursday, May 13, 2010.

James Ransford Martinson of Taber, beloved husband of the late Pam Martinson, passed away on Monday, April 19, 2010 at the age of 50 years.
He is survived by his children Rory (Angie) Martinson, Nicole (Calvin) Elliott, Daina Martinson and his grandchildren Rylan, Colten & Teagan Martinson and Kaysen Elliott all of Taber; grandmother Grace Hurst of Taber; brother Bernie (Eleanor) Martinson, their sons Greg, Kevin, Derek and great niece Madysen Martinson all of Rosetown, Saskatchewan. He is also survived by Pam’s family, her parents Stan & Bea Gardiner of Rosetown, Saskatchewan; her two sisters, Rhonda (Mick) Kennon of Biggar, Saskatchewan and Gina Schatz of Maidstone, Saskatchewan as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife Pamela Martinson October 28, 2003 and his parents, Karl & Patricia Martinson.
Jim was born April 14, 1960 in Rosetown, Saskatchewan. He married his childhood sweetheart Pamela Gardiner on July 21, 1979. He was employed for eighteen years with Triwell Oilfield Construction and most recently with Well-Tech as an Oilfield Supervisor. In his spare time he enjoyed quadding, camping, hunting, fishing, boating, carpentry, mechanics and gardening. The only thing he loved more than his 1981 Pontiac Firebird was spending time with his grandkids.
Jim’s fiftieth birthday party was a time of celebration and special memories. He enjoyed travelling to Cuba and Mexico and playing with his dog Machiko. He will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by everyone who knew him.

Ernest Martens, beloved husband of Emily Martens, passed away in Taber on Wednesday, March 31, 2010 at the age of 72 years.
Besides his loving wife Emily, he is survived by his children Darlene (John) Wright of High River and their children Ryan (Farzana) Wright (daughter Prema) and Richelle Wright; Darrell (Carla) Martens of Coaldale and their children Chris Martens (his friend Cathy), Kimberley Martens (her fiancé Marco Slingerland); Dean Martens of Taber; Doug (Pam) Martens of Taber and their children Laurie (Brent) Untereiner (children Kaitlyn and Evan), Jennifer (Chris) Bruce (child Morgan), Amber (Luke) Langlands (child Tessa). He is also survived by his siblings Evelyn (George) Kopervas, Irvin (Gloria) Martens, Linda (Dennis) Biesel, Sophie (Stan) Weiss, Ron (Tyke) Martens, Michelle (Ed) LaBlanc and Angela (Ken) Duke; sisters-in-law Rose (Charlie) Beaman, Joan (Elio) Kain and Florence Martens; brothers-in-law Bernard (Elsie) Elder and Bill (Monica) Elder as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents Abe and Eva Martens; brother Menno Martens; father and mother-in-law Bernard and Rose Elder; sister-in-law Sister Helen Elder.
Ernie was born October 5, 1937 at Newhorst, Saskatchewan and at a young age moved to Taber. He married Emily Elder on May 12, 1958. Ernie spent the majority of his life working in the
Taber oilfield. Together Ernie and Emily owned and operated D & E Transport plus a few other oilfield related businesses. Ernie’s interests were his family, old cars, fishing, nature and camping. Ernie’s shop became the local coffee hangout. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

FAY MEIKLE
1904 - 2010

Fay Meikle of Lethbridge, formerly of Taber, passed away peacefully at Extendicare in Lethbridge on Monday, March 15, 2010 at the age of 105 years.
Fay is survived by her guardians Roger (Cherylanne) Mueller, her son John’s special friend Helen Dye of Vancouver, as well as other relatives including niece Karen and nephew Robert.
Fay was predeceased by her son John, her parents Ernest and Daisy Howard, and all of her siblings, sisters Melba, Inez and Erlene and brothers Clifford and Claire.
Iona Fay Howard was born on December 20, 1904 in Cherokee, Oklahoma. In 1906, the family collected their meagre belongings and struck out for the Canadian Prairies, settling on a homestead in the Regina area. Fay came to Taber in the spring of 1929 from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.
Fay’s sister Erlene lived to be 101 years old - it is quite wonderful to have two sisters over 100 years old at the same time. Fay’s son John Howard Meikle was born on September 2, 1924 and passed away on January 2, 2005 at the age of 80.
In 1942, Fay enlisted in the Women’s Royal Naval Service, as a Wren, which is part of the Navy. Fay and her son John both
joined the Canadian Navy at the same time - mother and son - a first for the Canadian Navy. Fay was demobilized in Montreal in 1946.
Fay worked for the Taber School Division from 1947 to 1968 as Divisional librarian, pioneering in school libraries.
In 1967, Fay was honoured to meet the Prince and Princess Takamatsu of Japan, when they came to Lethbridge to open the Japanese Gardens, acting as an intermediary for the Iwabuchi’s to meet the Royal Couple.
Fay was very active in the Taber Arts and Crafts Club for many years, doing such activities as ceramics, weaving and china painting. Fay enjoyed travelling the world over, reading, dancing and singing.
She moved to Extendicare in Lethbridge at the age of 97 and enjoyed her life there.
Fay led a very full and active life, and was very thankful for her many friends and relatives that have helped her along the way.

TIM MIKALSON
1960 - 2009


Timothy Kirk Mikalson of Enchant, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, November 16, 2009 at the age of 49 years.
He is survived by his brother Ken Mikalson of Lethbridge; sister Geri (Rick) Nagy of Seven Persons; nephews Mitchel Nagy, Justin (Kristen) Nagy; great niece Trinity Rose Nagy.
He was predeceased by his mother Shirlee and brother Randall.
Tim was born on October 6, 1960 in Taber to Shirlee and Bjarne Mikalson. He was raised and educated in Enchant. Following school Tim had various jobs in the city, however he eventually returned to his first passion of farming which he continued to do until his passing.

ANNIE MEGYES
1923 - 2009


Annie E. Megyes, beloved wife of the late Frank Megyes, passed away in Taber on Tuesday, October 20, 2009 at the age of 85 years.
Annie was born December 26, 1923 in Yugoslavia to Adam and Katarina Horvath. She came to Canada in 1929 settling in the Taber area. On January 22, 1942 she married Frank Megyes. Frank and Annie lived on their family homestead where they raised their family. She continued to live there until 2005 when she moved to the Clearview Lodge. Annie enjoyed puzzles, gardening, word search and animals. She participated in most of the Lodge activities and enjoyed the field trips with Bingo being her favorite. She was a loving and caring mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Annie passed down many traditional recipes to her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her children Edward Megyes of Taber, Frank (Laurie) Megyes of Taber, Katherine (Bill) Goodchild of Creston, B.C. and Dave Megyes of Taber; grandchildren Cassandra (Kevin) Jorgensen, Melanie (Kevin) Hill, Tyler (Lindzi) Megyes, Krislin Meier (Dwight), Kevin Megyes, Brian Megyes, Michael Jodoin and Robert Jodoin; great grandchildren Mackenzy, Trinity and Lakiya Jorgensen, Christian, Joshua and Elijah Hill, Caydence and Oakley Megyes, Edan and Logan Meier, Michelle and Mathieu Jodoin; a sister Mary Siljak as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband Frank Megyes, three daughters and one son all in infancy, a brother-in-law John Siljak and parents Adam and Katarina Horvath.
Relatives and friends are invited for Prayers at the Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Friday, October 23, 2009 at 7:00 P.M.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Augustine’s Catholic Church, 5009 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Saturday, October 24, 2009 at 10:30 A.M. with Reverend Patrick Furtado SAC Celebrant. Burial to follow at the Taber Memorial Garden.
If friends so desire, memorial tributes in Annie’s name may be made directly to the Clearview Lodge Residence Family Council, 4730 - 50 Avenue, Taber, Alberta T1G 1N6 or to the Alberta Guide Dog Services or to a charity of one’s choice.
