Gordon Allan Quast, beloved husband of Jeannette Quast of Taber, passed away in Calgary on Wednesday, September 1, 2010 at the age of 65 years. Relatives and friends are invited to meet with the family at the Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Friday, September 3, 2010 between 7:00 P.M. and 8:00 P.M. A private family funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 4, 2010. Besides his loving wife Jeannette, Gordon is survived by two sons, Corey (Sofia) Quast of Red Deer and his children Faith, Sierra, Seth & Katarina and Keith Quast of Red Deer and his children Shayodi & Jade. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters, Chris Quast of Westerose, Clarence (Jean) Quast of Westerose, Walter (Betty) Quast of Westerose, Judy (Dave) Bell of Leduc, Linda (Howard) Brooke of Millet and by numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Alex & Ella Quast, son Mark Quast (1975) and sister-in-law Noveina Quast. Gordon was born in Wetaskiwin on January 22, 1945. He was raised at Ma-Me-O Beach and attended Lakedell School. He began helping his father on the farm and eventually purchased it in 1972. Gordon married Jeannette Revak in Wetaskiwin on March 27, 1971. They spent the next thirty four years in Wetaskiwin before retiring to Taber in 2005. Gordon liked gardening, hunting, fishing, building, watching wrestling and he enjoyed his team of horses. He loved spending time with his family, most of all his grandchildren. Vilda Mae (Godfrey) (Bennett) Quaife, passed away peacefully at the Taber Extended Care Centre on Saturday, November 13, 2004 at the age of 97. Vilda was born and raised and lived in Taber, Alberta and district. Her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and great great grandchildren will sadly miss her in her family circle. Vilda is survived by her daughter Connie Olis (Bennett) (Myre) Jensen (Walter) of Lethbridge, a son Derrill Ennis Bennett of Glendon, Alberta, a son-in-law George Frank of Tonasket, Washington and also a beloved former son-in-law John P. (Margaret) Fettig of Edmonton; also her 19 grandchildren Jacquie (Ron) Jarvis, Gerry (Sherry) Jensen, Gaynelle (Bill) Brown, Kent (Allison) Jensen, Daryl (Heather) Jensen, Randy (Patti) Jensen, Jayne Mitchell, Todd (Amy) Jensen, Doug (Mizuso) Allen, Faron (Debbie) Jones, Harlan (Gail) Jones, Brian (Colleen) Bennett, Roberta (Glen) Myer, Connie (John) Roche, Gordon (Koreen) Bennett, Robert (Renny) Fettig, Trudy (Gary) Hoffman, Tori Sassone and Renee (Al) Balcom; her 53 great grandchildren and mates and her 23 great great grandchildren. Vilda will also be greatly missed by her sister Leah (Godfrey) Asplund of Picture Butte and a sister-in-law Buddy Godfrey of High Prairie and also by numerous nieces and nephews. Vilda was predeceased by her pioneer parents Jeremiah and Annie (Swenson) Godfrey of Taber, two daughters Trudy Ann Quaife and Burna Rae (Bennett) Frank, a son-in-law Jack Myre, a daughter-in-law Rosella (Filgas) Bennett, her sisters and their mates Maud (Jim) Jensen, Bertha (Bob) Chamberlain, Olis (Ross) Nyman, Jessie (DeVore) Kesler, Elva (Reed) Asplund, Edna (Sheldon) Johnson, a brother-in-law Wendell Asplund and a brother Joseph Godfrey. Vilda was also predeceased by 3 grandchildren Joel, Noel and Carma Jensen and a great grandson Blaine Fettig. Vilda was a true free spirited person all her life, she especially loved outdoor life in every way. She always lived a very active life, she enjoyed horses, nature, trips etc. She was happiest when she was "On the Go", anytime, anyplace, anywhere, anyhow. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She lived with her daughter Connie, but also spent a lot of time with her son Derrill and daughter Burna and their families. We would like to thank her many caregivers these past few years, especially the Doctors, nurses and staff at the Taber Extended Care Centre who continually made Vilda's last days so comfortable. Relatives and friends are invited to meet with the family in the Relief Society Room of the Church from 9:30 A.M. to 10:45 A.M. prior to the service. The Funeral Service will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Taber Stake Centre, 4709 - 50 Avenue, Taber on Saturday, November 20, 2004 at 11:00 A.M. with Dr. Wes Steed conducting. Interment to follow in the Taber Memorial Garden.
