WAYNE
WILSON
1931 - 2009

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Wayne “Festus” Wilson. Wayne passed away peacefully surrounded by his family in Taber on Tuesday, July 28, 2009 at the age of 78 years.
Wayne is survived by his loving family, sons Donald of Lacombe and his children Hunter and Jaydee; Robert (Debbie) of Ponoka and their children Paisley, Rhett and Laura; Rodney of Taber and his children Tyler and Tanner; Keith (Yvonne) of Lethbridge and their daughter Keira; daughter Heather (Todd) Poirer of Lacombe and their children Shayden and Koalby. He is also survived by his brothers Ed, Garth (Diane), Dale (Brenda); sisters Audrey (Harold) Rowe and Marquita Slavik; brother-in-law Keith Edwards; sister-in-law Iris Wilson as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents Elmer and Vida Wilson; brother Leland; sisters Colleen Wilson-Ross, Brenda Edwards, Marie Bareham; brothers-in-law Bill Bareham, Joe Slavik and Louis Ross.
Wayne was born April 22, 1931 in Taber where he resided until his passing. He attended Central School until he completed grade eleven. Wayne was a hard worker, working in the mine, at the slaughter house and at the Sugar Factory for thirty two years until he retired. Wayne enjoyed playing slow-pitch, boxing and he loved to rodeo - cow riding and bareback were his events of choice, “I spurred them in the neck”. Sitting in his chair watching stampede wrestling and hockey night in Canada was where you
could find Wayne on a typical Saturday evening. Wayne was a dedicated and proud father and devoted grandpa, who would do anything for his children and grandchildren. There was nothing Wayne loved to do more than watch his children and grandchildren rodeo and play sports, or just spoil them rotten. Wayne will be greatly missed.
Relatives and friends are invited to meet with the family prior to the service in the Relief Society Room of the Church from 9:40 A.M. to 10:40 A.M.
The Funeral Service will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Taber Stake Centre, 4709 - 50 Avenue, Taber on Tuesday, August 4, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. with Bishop Ken Holst conducting. Burial to follow at the Taber Memorial Garden.

of five and all that have known her have seen God's
light shining through her life. She attended Foremost
School up to grade twelve and completed her twelfth year
at Senator Gershaw School in Bow Island. She graduated
from Bethany Bible Institute in the spring of 1975.

secretarial course at Lethbridge Community College. She
also gained work experience in many areas including the
Burdett General Store, a receptionist for the dental
office of Dr. Penner, and also as a music teacher
teaching piano lessons. During this time, Walter Wiens
had been fasting and praying for God to bring that
special woman into his life. God answered Walter's
prayer and on April 15, 1978 they were married. God
blessed them with three children, Julene, Jeremy, and
Janelle. They lived in Ryley, Daysland, Burdett and have
spent the last twenty three years in Bow Island where
Eleanor has touched the lives of those around her in the

of her time working in Environmental Services at the
hospital and of course helping Walter out at the
Hardware Store and then the Bottle Depot. Eleanor
enjoyed spending time with family, especially camping,
hiking and boating. She loved watching sports whether it
was her kids playing or her favorite hockey team, the
Edmonton Oilers or favorite baseball team, the Toronto
Blue Jays. She also enjoyed serving others, always
trying to meet the needs around her. She was greatly

CAROL
WRIGHT
1955 - 2008

Carol Elizabeth Wright, beloved wife of Doug Wright of
Taber, passed away after a long struggle with illnesses
on Wednesday, July 23, 2008 at the age of 53 years.
Besides her loving husband Doug, she is survived by her
daughter Coralee (Dwayne) Skretting of Enchant and
Jennifer Wright of Taber; three grandchildren Shelby,
Wyatt and Owen Skretting; mother Mary Wiebe; siblings
Mary Anne (Lorne) Shields, Douglas (Bev) Wiebe, who is
also battling ALS and Craig Wiebe as well as numerous
other family members who will miss her dearly.
She was predeceased by her father Peter Wiebe.
Carol Elizabeth Wiebe was born April 15, 1955 to Peter
and Mary Wiebe. She lived a happy yet simple childhood
on a farm near Scandia with her siblings. Though she
never grew up in wealth it was clear from her stories
that life was good, creative and full of imagination,
but mostly love. Later in life Carol met Douglas Wright,
son of Russel and Mildred Wright. The two were married
August 18, 1973. In 1974 the simple life continued as
Doug and Carol bought a lot and set up a fourteen foot
mobile home in Hays where they raised their two
daughters, Coralee and Jennifer. Carol was a very hard
worker, together with Doug they ran an oilfield
construction business, where she would throw on her
coveralls and hard hat to accompany Doug in the dirty
work. Although she was up to her armpits in dust, sweat
and grease, Carol always found the time to drive her
daughter’s sports teams to their “out of towners”. She
is probably one of the best Bandit cheerleaders Hays has
ever had. Carol put in her time working for numerous
committees in Hays and when she had a little free time
she was an incredible “green thumb”. Over the years she
also had a passion for writing, she wrote some beautiful
short stories that were published for the Taber Times
soap box. In 1996 Carol became a grandma. “Nana” was her
official title and she wore it with great pride. Shelby
was born and two brothers followed, Wyatt and Owen. In
2002 Doug and Carol moved to an acreage overlooking the
river at Taber. This was a dream come true as Carol
couldn’t wait to work in her larger yard and fix up her
home. But the dream was put on hold in 2004, when Carol
was faced with a rare form of Lymphoma, undergoing
several treatments of chemo and radiation. It appeared
to be doing the job but the cancer came back and she
under went a stem cell transplant. Although worn out she
was ready to make a come back, but her legs refused to
co-operate with her. Suspecting it was a result of
cancer there remained hope for her strength to return,
yet her legs got worse and further tests confirmed her
nightmare, Carol was diagnosed with ALS. This horrible
disease ate away her remaining years, stealing her
strength and voice. On the morning of July 23, 2008
Carol finally found peace.
A private family service will be held.
If friends so desire, memorial tributes in Carol’s name
can be made directly to the ALS Society of Alberta,
#400, 320 - 23 Avenue S.W., Calgary, Alberta T2S 0J2.
