Marie Lievaart

1954 - 2016

Marie Lievaart (nee de Wit), was released from her pain to our heavenly father on Thursday, February 18, 2016. She left surrounded by her loving family at the Foothills Hospital at the age of 61 years, following a long yet inspiring fight with scleroderma.

 Relatives and friends were invited to meet with the family at Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Wednesday, February 24, 2016 between 7:00 P.M. and 8:00 P.M.

 The Celebration of Marie’s Life was held at the First Christian Reformed Church, 3902 Heritage Drive, Taber on Thursday, February 25, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. Burial followed at the Taber Memorial Garden.

 Marie is survived by Dan Lievaart, her husband of thirty eight years; children Lane (Joleen) Lievaart of Coaldale, Elly (Charles) McCoy of Calgary, Simon (Jodi) Lievaart of Doon, Iowa, Annette Lievaart of Kenya and Thomas (Britney) Lievaart of Cranford as well as ten grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters Alida Poort and Jean Vanderlaan; mother-in-law Geraldine Lievaart; brothers-in-law Peter (Magda) Lievaart, Hank (Linda) de Jonge and Kryn Van Oostveen; sister-in-law Trudy de Wit.

 She was predeceased by her parents Hugo and Nellie de Wit; sisters Nell de Jonge and Wilhelmina Van Oostveen; brothers Case and John de Wit; brothers-in-law Richard Poort and Albert Vanderlaan; father-in-law Leen Lievaart and nephews Alex Lievaart and John Poort. 

 Marie was born in Woodstock, Ontario as the youngest of seven children. She completed her RN schooling at Fanshawe College and proceeded to work in the Taber Hospital from 1975 to 1977. She then married Dan Lievaart and together they raised five children on their farm north of Chin.  From 2007 to 2015 she enjoyed working as a community care nurse in Taber. Her attitude in the midst of adversity along with her zest for life will continue to inspire those who had been close; to seize the day and enjoy every moment God has gifted.
