Hilda Westerhoud

1934 - 2022

Hilda Westerhoud (née Dykstra), beloved wife of the late Carl Westerhoud, passed away in Lethbridge, with family at her side, on Monday, August 29, 2022 at the age of 87 years.

Relatives and friends were invited to meet with the family at Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Thursday, September 1, 2022 between 7:00 P.M. and 8:00 P.M.

A private burial service was held at the Taber Memorial Garden prior to the funeral service on Friday, September 2, 2022.

The Funeral Service was held at the First Christian Reformed Church, 3902 Heritage Drive, Taber on Friday, September 2, 2022 at 11:00 A.M.

Hilda is survived by her children Freda (Alfons) Poppe of Diamond City, Corry Westerhoud of Lethbridge, Margaret (Richard) Visser of Taber, Allen (Marianne) Westerhoud of Taber, Brenda (Mel) Shaw of Taber, Clarence (Karen) Westerhoud of Lethbridge, Garry (Carrie) Westerhoud of Nobleford and daughter-in-law Monica Westerhoud of Medicine Hat; twenty two grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren. She will be fondly remembered by numerous other members of her extended family.

She was predeceased by her parents Anne and Fettje Dykstra; her husband Carl Westerhoud; sons Clarence, John and Casey Westerhoud; son-in-law Dennis Green, her three sisters and four brothers.

Hilda was born in Tirns, Netherlands on October 20, 1934. She immigrated to Canada in 1948, settling in the Turin area. She married Carl Westerhoud on April 23, 1955. Hilda enjoyed knitting, baking, canning, gardening, sitting outside with Carl and looking after her chickens. She loved bingo at the home. The biggest highlight of her life was spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
