He is also survived by his sister Doreen Burr of Edmonton and by numerous nieces and nephews.

George was born at home in Magrath on March 29, 1936. At the age of two, the family moved to Taber where he was raised and spent the majority of his life. He married Jean in December of 1960 and they had two daughters, Lynne and Lori.

George had various jobs including dispatching for an oil company. In 1979 he established Holman’s Trucking which he owned and operated until retirement.

Horses have always been George’s passion and he started riding at a very young age. Many true friendships were made as everybody came to the farm to ride horses. He was well known for his many steer wrestling teams, but will be remembered especially for his team Butch and Tom. His talent for hazing and his quality of horses took him to places such as the Calgary Stampede, the CFR, CCA, FCA, and CRA Finals, Denver and El Paso Texas to the NARC finals. He was most proud of his awards for steer wrestling and hazing horse of the year. When he no longer packed a team around he competed in team roping. He served as a rodeo director on the CRA board. He was a generous rodeo sponsor and a hard working volunteer.

George adored his family and loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He will be missed immensely by all who loved him.

If friends so desire, memorial tributes in George’s name may be made directly to the Taber and District Health Foundation (Palliative Care), 4326 - 50 Avenue, Taber, Alberta T1G 1N9 www.tdhf.ca.
