KAY ANDERSON

1920 - 2003

Kay Anderson of Taber, beloved wife of the late Mr. Floyd Anderson, passed away on Wednesday, January 29, 2003 at the age of 82 years.
Kay was born in Taber on August 14, 1920, one of eight children born to Nicholas and Dorothy Donick. On September 2, 1946 she was united in marriage to Floyd Anderson. They remained in the Taber area where they farmed for many years before retiring to the Town of Taber in 1974. Kay always kept busy working hard on the farm and at the Cannery but always had the time to be a full time mother to her six children. Family was always very important to her and made them her top priority. While raising an active family, Kay found herself attending a variety of sporting events including watching and playing baseball and going to hockey games. There wasn’t a better supporter of Taber Minor Hockey than Kay. She was also a member of the Royal Canadian Legion and supported the local Cadets. In her spare time she liked to go bowling, play bingo and play cards but her passion was for her family and grandchildren. Kay enjoyed the time she spent visiting with her family and shared a special bond with each and every one of them. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends.
Kay will be lovingly remembered by her six children: Allan (Sandy) Anderson, Barb (Mel) Elford, Cameron Anderson, Denise (Garry) Edwards, Ilo (Laura) Anderson and Peggy (John) Kleiner; seventeen grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Anne Balloch; and three brothers, Bill Donick, Alex Donick and Nick (Linda) Donick. Besides her husband Floyd, she was predeceased by three brothers, Johnny, Michael and Dennis Donick; a granddaughter Tricia and her parents, Nicholas and Dorothy Donick.
A Private Family Funeral Service was held at the Southland Funeral Chapel, Taber, on Saturday, February 1, 2003. Interment followed in the Taber Memorial Garden. If friends so desire, memorial tributes in Kay’s name can be made directly to Taber Minor Hockey, 4712 - 50th Street Taber, Alberta T1G 2B6.
