TONY ZILINSKI

1913 - 2000

Tony Zilinski, beloved husband of Jessie Zilinski of Taber, passed away on Sunday, September 10, 2000 at the age of 87 years.
Tony was born in Widnes Lancashire, England on March 17, 1913. He was predeceased by three brothers and a sister. He is survived by his beloved wife Jessie Thompson Kirby Zilinski of Taber, and sister Anne Smith of Ponoka. Tony and Jessie have three children a daughter Lil (Knud) Sommer of Ponoka and children Sherri (Leo) Candellario, Kristi (Mark) Hinkley, Leann (Scott) Soutter; daughter Josie (Brooke) Johnson of Stettler and children Lana (Dave) Ventnor, Andi (Clint) Morlock, Tricia Johnson (Jeremy Nichol); son Tony (Diane) Zilinski and children Eric Zilinski, Julie Zilinski (Shane Hall) and Brandon Zilinski and also the special blessings of ten great grandchildren.
Tony served in World War II as a fire fighter in Widnes Lancashire, England. Jessie and Tony immigrated to Grand Prairie, Alberta in 1948. Tony self schooled and earned a second class steam engineer certificate. Tony spent many hours reading novels and history books. He nurtured this love of books and history in his grandchildren. Tony was very active in the Legion and coordinated various positions. He served several times as President. He dearly loved the Legion and was very dedicated to the Roman Catholic Church.
He will be sorely missed by family and friends for his quiet guidance and great love.
Relatives and friends were invited to Prayers at the Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Thursday, September 14, 2000 at 7:00 P.M.
The Funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Augustine’s Catholic Church, 5009 - 48 Avenue on Friday, September 15, 2000 at 10:30 A.M. with Reverend Father Jim de los Angeles Celebrant. Burial followed at the Taber Memorial Garden.
