1933 - 2017

Ronald Frederick Williams, beloved husband of the late Sophie Williams, passed away in Pincher Creek on Friday, June 30, 2017 at the age of 84 years.

  Relatives and friends were invited to Prayers at Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Thursday, July 6, 2017 at 7:00 P.M.

 The Funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Augustine's Catholic Church, 5009 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Friday, July 7, 2017 at 11:30 A.M. Burial followed at the Taber Memorial Garden. 

 Ron is survived by his children Cecelia (Don) Kuchison of Pincher Creek and their family Angela Kuchison, Marielle (David) Thom and Joshua (Danielle) Kuchison; Pauline (Vic) Dudus of Calgary and their family Caroline Dudus (fiancé Brad Lloyd), Alexander Dudus (Shawne Hansen) and Jeremy Dudus; Jim Williams (Marilyn Bater) and their family Claire Williams and Laura Williams; Fred (Belinda) Williams of Taber and their family Jordan (Nicole) Williams, Tabatha Williams (fiancé Brendan Wiens), Cameron Williams and Kavan (Benita) Williams; Mike (Susan) Williams of Edmonton. He is also survived by four great grandchildren Colby Williams, Sophia Thom, Logan Kuchison and Knoxlyn Williams. He is also remembered by his sister Phyllis (Mel) Melstrom of Calgary, in-laws and also by numerous nieces, nephews and in-laws.

 He was predeceased by his wife Sophie Williams and his siblings.  

 Ron was born in Taber on March 29, 1933 to William and Velma Williams. He met Sophie, a teacher who came to Taber, after they had been on the same bowling team. They married in 1955 and raised five children. Ron built (with help from friends) their house on 52nd street, across from his parents’ house. He took care of his yard, hunted, did woodworking and spent time with his family. He retired from Empress Foods in 1993. Family was very important to Ron, and he was protective of the members of his family and proud of their accomplishments, particularly in their education. He was involved in helping organize the early Williams family reunions which occurred every few years in Taber. Ron was involved in the Catholic Church and was a member of the Holy Name Society and then joined the Knights of Columbus. He was an usher and an extraordinary Eucharistic Minister. He served several terms on the Taber R.C.S.S.D School Board.
