1920 - 2018

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Zella Pearl Gier in Taber on Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at the age of 97 years.  
The Funeral Service was held at Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Saturday, June 23, 2018 at 4:00 P.M. 
Zella will be deeply missed and forever remembered by her loving daughter Donna (Jim) Turnbull of Edmonton; four grandchildren Sheryl (Anil) Pereira, Mark (Susan) Turnbull, Patricia Bronowski and Brian (Melanie) Trofimuk; ten great grandchildren Lucie, Bennett and Henry Pereira; Nicole, Sean, Ian and Ethan Turnbull; Brandilyn and Tyler Bronowski; Dimitri Trofimuk. She is also survived by her sister Gurene Hammer and by many nephews and nieces.

She was predeceased by her first husband, Erling (Earl) Henderson, their daughter Lois Trofimuk, her second husband Ernest Gier, sister Gladys Johnson, son-in-law, John Trofimuk, and grandson-in-law, Bill Bronowski.

Zella and Earl moved to Taber in 1950 from Holden (where she was born) to open Henderson Hardware Store which they owned and operated until Earls passing in 1971. She remarried in 1976 to Ernie Gier who passed away in 1985.

Fishing, camping and travel were Zella's favorite activities followed by gardening, bowling, curling, golf and china painting at the Arts & Crafts club. She served as Honoured Royal Lady in the Order of the Royal Purple Lodge and was a life time member. She was a member of the Woman of the Moose Lodge, the W.C.W. Reliance Unit of the United Church and a member of the Seniors Centre. 

 Zella will be interred with Earl in their cemetery plot in the City of Edmonton Cemetery.
