Emily was born November 16, 1939 at Scott, Saskatchewan and moved with her family to Taber. She married Ernie Martens on May 12, 1958 at St. Augustine’s Catholic Church in Taber. Together Emily and Ernie owned and operated D & E Transport plus a few other oilfield related businesses for fifty years. During this time Emily was a meticulous book keeper, dispatcher and the heart of the company. Emily was a very strong member of the Catholic Church, having spent many years with a variety of Catholic volunteer groups. Most Saturday mornings would be coffee time at Emily’s for the family, we always enjoyed this time with her.  She also had an amazing sense of humor, saving and collecting jokes her whole life, she had binders full of them. Emily was also a major fan of the Toronto Blue Jays, we all knew not to call her during a game. In her younger years, she was an avid soft ball player, league bowler and curled for a couple of years. She loved her weekly get together with friends. Emily was generous to many charities and causes in her lifetime.

If friends so desire, memorial tributes in Emily’s name may be made directly to St. Augustine’s Catholic Church (Windows/Building Fund), 5009 - 48 Avenue, Taber, Alberta T1G 1T4.
