FUNERAL SERVICE AUDIO RECORDING

Jean Bailey

1936 - 2019

Jean Bailey (nee Lee), beloved wife of the late Junior Bailey, passed away peacefully in North Ogden, Utah on Saturday, November 23, 2019 after several years struggling with Alzheimers. We are happy she has been released from her struggle and has been reunited with her sweetheart, Junior C. ‘JC’ Bailey who passed away in 2005.

Relatives and friends were invited to meet with the family at the church prior to the funeral service on Saturday, November 30, 2019 between 10:00 A.M. and 11:15 A.M.

The Funeral Service was held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 14 - 3 Avenue East, Barnwell on Saturday, November 30, 2019 at 11:30 A.M. Burial followed at the Barnwell Cemetery.

Jean is survived by her children Richard (Sandra) Bailey of Oregon, Cathy (Tom) Dove of Utah, Brenda (Ren) Hales of Utah, Doug (Kendra) Bailey of Barnwell, Kristy (Phil) Wilson of Utah and Jordan (Heather) Bailey of Idaho; twenty seven grandchildren and twenty four great grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband Junior Bailey, her parents Vera and Dill Lee, brother Bruce Lee, Junior’s parents Lysle and Viola Bailey and her birth mother Meryl.

Jean was born in Edmonton on January 30, 1936 to a kind and loving mother who selflessly gave her up for adoption at six weeks old. She was joyfully welcomed by her loving parents Dill and Vera (nee Jensen) Lee who were overjoyed to be blessed with a daughter.

Jean had a happy childhood, growing up in Cardston with her older brother Bruce and surrounded by her many uncles, aunts and cousins. Family was so important to her and she truly loved her Lee/Jensen heritage.

Jean attended college in Edmonton, where she received her teaching certificate and began teaching school in Glenwood. In the fall of 1957, she decided to go to Brigham Young University to further her education. On the way to Provo, Utah, her dad had a heart attack and passed away. This was a very sad time in her life and she returned home to be a support to her mom. She returned to teaching for the year and then went to Brigham Young University in the fall where she met and fell in love with Junior.

Jean married Junior on July 22, 1959 in the Cardston Alberta Temple. They made their home in Utah for the first five years of their marriage where their first three children were born. In 1964, they moved to Barnwell where three more children were born to complete their family. Jean taught school in Barnwell for two years and then continued as a substitute teacher for the remainder of her career. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and enjoyed serving a mission with JC in Ogden, Utah.

Jean had a great love for Waterton, working there and attending dances when she was young. It was one of her favorite places to spend time with Junior and the family camping, hiking and fishing. In her later years she taught several of her grandkids to ride a bike while enjoying Waterton with her whole family.

Jean was a very hard worker who sacrificed to support Junior and her children in whatever they did. She loved to quilt and made every one of her grandchildren a quilt when they were born. Bringing happiness to her grandchildren and great grandchildren brought her so much delight. Her posterity will remember that a kiss on Grandma’s cheek was always followed by a joyful, “I love it, I love it, I love it!”

Jean’s family would like to thank all of her caregivers at the Clearview Lodge in Taber and the Quail Meadow Assisted Living in North Ogden, Utah who have assisted with her care.
