A private commital service was held at the Taber Memorial Garden.

Besides Marion, his loving wife of fifty seven years, Jim is survived by their four children Darcey Halverson of Edmonton, Tracey (Dave) Wilkins of Taber, Lonny (Shauna) Halverson of Taber and Shawna Sekura (Eric Ross) of Taber; grandchildren Brendan Blacquier of Edmonton, Taylor (Codie) Gouw of Taber, Colton (Kianna) Gouw of Taber, Logan (Kassidy) Gouw of Taber, Shaylyn (Bradley) Blacquier of Edmonton, Jayme (Mace) Perozak of Stavely, Amanda (Matthew) Van Liere of Coaldale, James Halverson of Coaldale and six great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters Eyvonne Dunn of High River, Colleen (Pete) Jenzen of Taber, his brother and sisters-in-law Luella (Reg) Easthope of Edmonton, Martin Kunz of Calgary, Dianne (Gary) Firth of St. Albert, Bobby (Roger) Elliott of Coaldale, Debbie Lewis of Taber as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents Ken (Verna) Halverson of Taber, his siblings Sharon Thurston of Fernie, Doug Halverson of Calgary, Berry Halverson of Calgary, his sister-in-law Donna Kunz of Calgary and his brother-in-law Tim Lewis of Taber.

Jim was born in Drumheller on May 14, 1939 to his parents Ken and Verna Halverson. He married Marion Kunz on July 27, 1963 and they moved to Taber in 1970 where they spent the rest of their time together and raised their family.

He was in the navy from 1960 to 1963 and was a long standing member of the Royal Canadian Legion. Jim started farming during his first few years of working and then moved into starting his own business, Halverson Trucking, and continued trucking for many different companies, such as Gouw Quality Onions, before he retired at the age of 80 years.

Jim and Marion found excitement in traveling around to different places together. He was a hardworking man and was very dedicated to his family. As his family started to grow, he enjoyed spending time with his grandkids and great grandchildren as they had so much love and energy to share. In the spring and summer, he enjoyed planting flowers with his wife and taking care of his yard. He was an avid golfer and loved watching his grandkids play sports. In winter, he found enjoyment in Christmas lights and watching old westerns such as John Wayne movies. He was a very simple man that had very few words to share but he didn’t need to say much to let you know he loved you. His presence was so strong, and it didn’t take long to feel very comfortable around Jim.
