Dick Hudson

1929 - 2022

Arnold Albert Hudson, beloved husband of the late Mae Hudson, passed away in Taber on Friday, May 27, 2022 at the age of 92 years.

Dick was laid to rest at a private graveside service at the Taber Memorial Garden on Friday, June 3, 2022.

Dick is survived by his daughter Cindy (David) Varga of Taber, son Clifford (Carol) Hudson of Kitscoty; grandchildren Courtney (Trevor) Daniels and family, Blaine Varga, Paige (Anthony) Smith and family, Thomas (Kelly) Hudson and family, Jeffery ( MacKayla) Hudson and family.

He was predeceased by his wife Mae Hudson, son Chance Hudson and daughter Diana Hudson.

Dick and Mae were married October 10, 1957. They started farming and raised their family in the Purple Springs area. Their home commonly referred to as the "Hudson Hacienda", was known as a coffee stop and meeting place for musical gatherings. Dick and Mae enjoyed many years of traveling visiting sixty eight countries, took in five cruises taking in five of the seven continents. He loved farming their irrigation and dryland, raising Charolais cattle while working thirty four campaign’s as a shift chemist at Roger Sugar Factory. Dick enjoyed pistol club, Grassy Lake 4 H Beef club and music which was probably his favorite. He played the saxophone, guitar, banjo, violin and was ready for every get together with friends, family and The Oilers for a jam session.

After selling the farm, they retried in Taber and had the best neighbors that you could ask for when adjusting to town life. His last years were spent at Clearview Lodge, where Dick called home for the last seven years. We are so grateful for the wonderful and caring staff.

If friends so desire, memorial tributes in Dick’s name may be made directly to a charity of one’s choice or to the Clearview Lodge Resident Council, 4730 - 50 Avenue, Taber, Alberta T1G 1N6.

Our family would like to Thank Dr. Sue Westheuser and the staff at Clearview Lodge.
