Kathy is survived by her son Dan Faechner (Chantel Zoeteman and her children Eliza, Vanessa and Nora) and his daughter Mya; daughter Kristy Faechner (Darrell Coutts and his children Ajay and Brock); brother Ken Hickey; sister-in-law Inez Glover and her children Jodi and Jason.

She was predeceased by her husband Ed; parents James and Lois Hickey; brothers Jack Hickey and Terry Hickey; mother and father-in-law Ella and Daniel Faechner; brother-in-law Dave Glover.

Kathy was born in Grande Prairie on November 26, 1956. She was raised on a farm in Grovedale milking cows, taking care of chickens and getting into shenanigans with her brothers. After school she left home and moved to Edmonton where she started working for Edwin Faechner building theatres. After much persistance, Kathy finally agreed to go out on a date with Ed. He ended up being the love of her life and they were married on December 12, 1975. They moved to Taber where they owned a greenhouse and painting company. Shortly after their family began to grow with the birth of their son Dan in 1981 followed by Kristy in 1984. Kathy was an awesome wife and mother. Following Ed’s passing in 1996, she raised their two children on her own. She was a rock and her kids were always number one. Kathy was the best Gaga ever to her granddaughter Mya, they truly were “two peas in a pod”. She was a tough, hard working person with a big heart.

If friends so desire, memorial tributes in Kathy’s name may be made directly to your local animal shelter or rescue centre.
