Dorothy Kambeitz

1935 - 2022

Dorothy Margaret Kambeitz, beloved wife of the late Whendlean Kambeitz, passed away in Taber on Friday, September 16, 2022 at the age of 87 years.

Relatives and Friends were invited to Prayers at Southland Funeral Chapel 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Tuesday, September 20, 2022 at 5:00 P.M.

The Funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Augustine’s Church, 5009 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Wednesday, September 21, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. Burial followed at the Taber Memorial Garden.

Dorothy is survived by her daughter Brenda (Jim) Rabusic of Taber; sons Brian (Marilyn) Kambeitz of Taber and Darrell (Fay) Kambeitz of Camrose; son-in-law Barney Kerkhoff, sister-in-law Sheila Torscher, twelve grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband Whendlean and daughter Kathy Kerkhoff.

Dorothy was born July 17, 1935 on the family farm south of Bow Island to proud parents Whendal “Leo” and Julia Torscher, joining her siblings Joseph, Katherin, Peter and Edward. In her early years she attended Sampson and Hoping school near Foremost. In 1947 she moved with her parents to Bow Island where she completed her high school education. Dorothy met Whendy Kambeitz, the love of her life, in 1952 and in October 1953 they were married. They lived and worked on the family farm near Grassy Lake until 1960 when they moved to Taber. Dorothy had a career in bookkeeping, working for businesses in Taber. She retired in 1990 after seventeen wonderful years at Peters Home Harmony Center.

In retirement she enjoyed travel, playing cards, gardening and spoiling all those grand and great grandchildren. After Whendy passed away Dorothy moved into Pioneer Place where she met many wonderful people. Her passion for playing cards and dining out with friends occupied most of her days. Dorothy was devoted to her family, never missed a birthday, anniversary or special occasion. She stayed in regular contact with all, reaching out to nieces and nephews across Canada and the United States. Her love and faith in God was strong to the end. She was loved and will be missed by all who knew her.

If friends desire, memorial tributes in Dorothy’s name may be made to the St. Augustine’s Catholic Church (window replacement fund), 5009 - 48 Avenue, Taber, Alberta T1G 1T4.

A special thank you to Dr. Yawney for his kindness and care, his attendance always brought a smile to her face. Thank you also to those amazing nurses and staff at the Taber hospital.
