Coby was a loving mother to Jacqueline (John) Andrade of Taber, Clarence (Melanie) Bos of Taber, Karen Schmidtke of Taber, Kimberley (Nathan) Born of Calgary and Michael (Leanne) Bos of Spruce Grove. She was blessed with nineteen grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband John Bos and one sister and two brothers.

Coby was born in Pijnacker, the Netherlands, daughter of the late Frederick and Jacoba Vink. She immigrated to Canada in 1954 at the age of fifteen with her family in the search for new beginnings and settled in Strathroy, Ontario.

Coby began working as a nanny for a family with housekeeping duties and childcare and she also worked in a bakery for a few years. She met John, her husband to be, at a church youth group in 1956 and they married in 1959. For the next twenty one years she stayed home to raise her family of five children.

In 1980, John and Coby along with the three youngest children moved to Taber. She was a hard worker and took on part time jobs in a greenhouse and grading potatoes and onions to help support the family.

Coby was a loving and devoted wife to John for sixty years and spending time with family was very important for her. She was affectionately known by her grandchildren and great grandchildren as Oma (Oma-ma). She enjoyed playing with them and making them feel special and looked forward to Oma Day every year.

Coby enjoyed volunteering with John at Extendicare and Linden View for many years, often taking her grandchildren with her. Some of her hobbies included pottery, knitting, and weaving, and many of her creations were given to her children and grandchildren as gifts.

Life was not always easy for Coby, however she was a fighter and determined to move forward. Through all the struggles her faith and trust in Christ grew and she learned to depend on Him. Coby loved life and continued to share about God’s faithfulness to others wherever she was. We are confident that Coby is now with her Savior and reunited with family members that have gone before her.

If friends so desire, memorial tributes in Coby’s name may be made directly to the Taber and District Health Foundation, 4326 - 50 Avenue, Taber, Alberta T1G 1N9 www.tdhf.ca - please designate to Palliative Care.
