Donald McCoy

1930 - 2026

It is with heavy hearts and sadness that the family of Donald Jay McCoy, announce his passing in Lethbridge on Friday, June 12, 2026, at the age of 95 years.

Donald is survived by his wife of seventy two years, Isabelle Rose McCoy of Milk River; sons Kelly McCoy of Coaldale and Dennis McCoy of Red Deer; daughter-in-law Elaine McCoy of Milk River. He was the proud grandfather of twelve grandchildren Bret McCoy of Fort Saskatchewan, Spencer McCoy of Lethbridge, Cole McCoy of Moose Jaw, Tyrell and Raider McCoy of Milk River, Nicole Heck of New Caney, Texas, Kristal McCoy-Engel of Lethbridge, Justan McCoy of Red Deer, Tabitha McCoy of Lethbridge, Corey-Jo Ragan of Cochrane, Robin McKinnon of Deerfield, New Hampshire and Jennifer Haynes of Vancouver.

He was predeceased by his daughter Gloria, sons Wayne and Allan McCoy and daughter-in-law Shannon Weatherhead-McCoy.

Donald had a very fulfilling life. He was born in 1930 to Jay and Martha McCoy and grew up on the family farm east of Warner. He contracted the polio virus at a young age but managed to recover with medical intervention. Donald attended grade school east of Warner at the Bunton school and in 1939 he completed his schooling in Milk River. In 1953 he married the love of his life, Isabelle Rose Baczuk. They started their married journey on the Jay McCoy family farm north of Milk River, where they farmed and raised their five children. In 1980 Donald and Isabelle moved to Milk River where they resided until 2025 when they moved into the Prairie Rose Lodge.

Donald was an active member of the Masonic Lodge, the Warner Lions club and was a 4-H beef club leader. He tried his hand at a few different jobs including grain buying for Ellison Milling, agriculture fieldman for the County of Warner, selling hail and crop insurance and adjusting hail damage and owner/operator of the Milk River Gulf Service Station.

Donald enjoyed playing crib and teaching others how to play. He loved camping and fishing and could be found at many of the campgrounds in the eastern slopes of Alberta. Donald and Isabelle ventured to Arizona a couple of times during the winter months.

You were an inspiration to your family and friends and will be sadly missed. Rest easy Dad, your legacy will live on.

The celebration of life will be held at the Milk River Civic Centre, 321- 3 Avenue NE, Milk River on Saturday, July 18, 2026 at 1:00 P.M.
