MONA ORLANDO

1937 - 1998

Mona May Orlando passed away at the Taber Continuing Care on Thursday, September 24, 1998 at the age of 61 years; much loved sister of Lois (Bob) Phillips, the late Arlene (Ken) Rombough and the late William Duane Campbell.
Mona lived a life of setting goals for herself and working to achieve them. She travelled many places in pursuit of these goals and finally became a teacher in Vancouver. After a few years, her sickness had overcome her ability to continue and she returned to Taber and lived at Arlene and Ken’s home until she had to be hospitalized. Mona was born in Edmonton on May 14, 1937 to Viola (Hall) Campbell-Nelson and William John Campbell. She moved to Taber where she received her schooling and graduated from W.R. Meyers in 1956. Mona had very fond memories of always coming home to help with Christmas baking and sharing the lives of her nieces and nephews: Scott (Lonnie) Christensen and their children Jodi and Kori; Colin Phillips and his son Gregory; Susan Phillips and her daughter Shanda-Lee; Greg (Heather) Phillips and their children Tara, Raegan and Ashley; Lori Phillips and her son Delaney; Shari (Dale) Schmidt and their children Brodie and Colton; Della Dee (Blake) Schramm and their daughter Robi; Tammy Rombough (Robert Goldade) and their children Jasmin and Mackayla; and Dustin Rombough; her brother Bill’s family, Bill, Lorna, Ellen, Bobby, Kathleen and Michael. She is also survived by her step-family; Melvin (Pat) Nelson, Grant (Joyce) Nelson and Leo (Marie) Hill.
Mona was predeceased by Glen Nelson and Luella Powelson.
A gathering of Mona’s dear family was held at Southland Funeral Chapel to say good-bye to their cherished aunt and sister. A Prayer and a kind thought was all she wished from her family and friends. Interment took place at the Taber Memorial Garden.
To all that made her last months more comfortable, her family sends a very heartfelt thank-you.
