TITO PERINI

1922 - 1999

Elido Edoardo Perini, beloved husband and companion of Joyce, passed away on June 25, 1999 after a long courageous battle with cancer.
Tito was born on “main street”, Taber on December 23, 1922. He received his schooling in Taber during which time he held numerous odd jobs including sheep herding, working at Broder’s cannery and helping out his dad in his shoe store. Upon turning eighteen, Tito enlisted with the Royal Canadian Air Force flying thirty one missions as a Tail Gunner during World War II in both Halifax and Lancaster Bombers. During this time, Tito also spent approximately six months in a German POW camp including the “forced” march from camp to camp. After the end of the War, Tito returned to Taber and was employed with Eric Wilkins driving transport trucks. In 1949 Tito purchased his first dump truck which began his career in construction. He eventually started his own business E.E. (Tito) Perini Construction Ltd. operating various types of excavating equipment in Southern Alberta, the Crowsnest Pass and parts of British Columbia.
After his retirement in 1988, Tito enjoyed many pastimes including fishing, gardening, carpentry and going on bus tours.
Tito’s greatest pleasure was spending time with his family and playing with his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife of forty seven years, Tito is survived by his children and grandchildren Shelly Perini of Taber, Darrel (Bonnie) Perini of Taber (Scott and Kyla); Gail (Paul) Gulkiewich of Lethbridge (Kirsten and Kyle); Angela (Ben) Thiessen of Lethbridge (Tristan and Catlin); Lisa Perini of Taber and Gloria, June and Robert, sisters Helen McPhee of Taber, Marion (Doug) Halpenny of Niagara Falls, Ontario, brother Art (Lydia) Perini of Taber and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
