ELIZABETH WILLIAMS

1905 - 2000

Elizabeth MacNicol Williams, peacefully passed away in Taber on Saturday, May 6, 2000 at the age of 94 years.
Elizabeth was born the daughter of Donald and Helen Yuill on July 14, 1905 in Leith, Scotland. At a young age she came to Canada with her family, where she met John Williams. On November 12, 1924 they were married and moved to the Taber area where they raised their family. Elizabeth was a member of the Afternoon Unit of Knox United Church, a member of the Legion Ladies Auxiliary and was a member of the Women of the Moose. During the depression, she and a group of ladies formed the “Birthday Club” which draws to a close, as Elizabeth was the last surviving member. She was a quiet and easy going lady and will always remembered by her family.
Elizabeth is survived by her children, Bernice Valgardson, Donald (Stella) Williams and Maurice (Sherry) Williams; a son-in-law Norman Metz; eleven grandchildren, twenty one great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandson as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband John; her daughters Helen Williams and Margaret Metz; a grandson David Metz; a son-in-law Leo Valgardson and a great-granddaughter Lisa Tschritter.
The Funeral Service was held at Knox United Church, 4929 - 50 Avenue, Taber on Saturday, May 13, 2000 at 11:00 A.M. with Reverend Ken Crassweller officiating. Burial followed in the Taber Memorial Garden.
