She is also survived by her sister-in-law Elsie Oddan; brothers-in-law Edward (Theresa) Oddan and Leonard (Loretta) Oddan as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by her husband Raymond; parents Adolph & Sophia Roth; father and mother-in-law Engeman & Julia Oddan; brothers Raymond, Rudolph and Jake Roth; sisters Elizabeth Roth and Minnie Heller; brothers-in-law Ernest, Orval and Lawrence Oddan; sister-in-law Doreen Oddan.
Hilda was born to Adolph and Sophia Roth on May 22, 1925 on the family homestead south of Fox Valley, Saskatchewan. As she was one of six children, she learned the typical farm skills that it took to live on the Saskatchewan prairies. She was raised and educated there, eventually taking on jobs off the farm in the slower times. She moved to Maple Creek, Saskatchewan where she met Raymond Oddan while working as a waitress in the BC cafe. Upon their meeting, Raymond quickly became a frequent customer. The relationship blossomed and the two were married on January 19, 1954, the coldest day of the year. Together they built a house which they lived in for two years. In 1956 they moved to Hays where they started their family and united their mixed farming skills on new land. They continued to live at Hays until 1967 when they moved to Taber. Life was very busy running two places and after many years they decided to slow down. During this alleged retirement, life took a dramatic turn in 1999 when Hilda lost Ray, her partner of forty five years. She moved to a seniors living home in 2004 where she resided for a number of years until moving into the Extendicare in Lethbridge. She eventually moved back to Taber, living at Linden View, which allowed her to be closer to family. Very recently she became a resident at the Long Term Care in Taber, where she resided until the time of her passing. She will be greatly missed, but as she always said, “Don’t say good-bye, just say so long”.
