1927 - 2013

Katherina Zaiser, beloved wife of Oskar Zaiser, passed away in Taber on Monday, July 1, 2013 at the age of 85 years.
Relatives and friends were invited to meet with the family at Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Thursday, July 4, 2013 between 7:00 P.M. and 8:00 P.M.
The Funeral Service was held at Peace Lutheran Church, 4619 - 56 Avenue, Taber on Friday, July 5, 2013 at 10:00 A.M. with Pastor Carl Bogda officiating. Burial followed at the Taber Memorial Garden.
Besides her loving husband Oskar, she is survived by their children Olga (Ted) Blacquier of Taber, Valentine (Rolf) Traichel of Brooks, Victor (Joann) Zaiser of Taber, Edwin (Colleen) Zaiser of Calgary, Brigitte (Jay) Doolittle of Taber, Edmund Zaiser of Taber, Oscar Jr. (Terri) Zaiser of Taber and by daughter-in-law Holly Zaiser of Taber. She will be fondly remembered by her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her son Ewald Zaiser April 6, 2013.
Katherina was born in Odessa, Romania September 29, 1927 to Adam and Katherine Eppler. She married Oskar Zaiser in Russia on January 20, 1951 and in 1966 they immigrated to Canada, settling in Calgary in search of a better life for their children. Their first four children, Olga, Valentine, Victor and Ewald, were born in Russia, Edwin and Brigitte in Germany and Edmund and Oscar Jr. in Canada. In 1979 they moved to Taber. Katherina was employed by Lucerne Foods, worked as a housekeeper for the Heritage Inn and finally the Taber Hospital before retiring. She loved gardening, tending to her flowers and spending time with her grandchildren.
