Rhona Campbell

1954 - 2018

Rhona Lee Campbell (nee Thompson), beloved wife of Doug Campbell, passed away peacefully in Taber on Sunday, April 1, 2018 at the age of 63 years. Her battle with cancer has finally ended. She passed away with the love of her life at her side.

The Funeral Service was held at Knox United Church, 4929 - 50 Avenue, Taber on Friday, April 6, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. A private burial followed at the Taber Memorial Garden.

Rhona is survived by her loving husband of forty years, Doug Campbell; daughter Jamie (Kevin) McCurdy of Medicine Hat, son Jeremy (Antonia) Campbell of Taber and her “sidewinder” grand-dog Gizmo. Rhona was thrilled to find out that she was going to be a first time grandma in late September. We all know that she will be there in spirit when her grandchild is born. She is also survived her sister Roberta (Ken) Mosimann and nephew David (Sarah) Mosimann.

Rhona was born at her grandmothers house in Lethbridge on November 4, 1954 to Ronald and Beverly Thompson. The early years of her education were spent at Readymade school, followed by middle school at R.I. Baker in Coaldale. Rhona’s high school years were completed with honors at Kate Andrews also in Coaldale. The University of Lethbridge was her next destination and she graduated with distinction. Her lifelong goal was finally complete. Teaching was her destiny and her passion and she embraced it with all her heart. After thirty five years of empowering young minds, Rhona’s failing health prevented her from continuing any further and she retired. The following years were filled with many surgeries and treatments, but because of these she had some semblance of normal life. In the fall of 2017, Rhona was diagnosed with esophageal cancer which ultimately led to her passing.

If friends so desire, memorial tributes in Rhona’s name may be made directly to the Town of Taber (please indicate for Taber Animal Shelter), A - 4900 - 50 Street, Taber, Alberta T1G 1T1.
