Peter was born in Goa, India on February 21, 1933. He completed his primary and secondary education at St. Paul's High School, in Belgaum, India. In 1951, he relocated to Mombasa, Kenya to pursue work as an Customs and Excise officer for the Kenyan Federal Government. In 1963, Peter married Clara D'Souza in Mombasa. Seeking a brighter future for his family, he relocated again to Taber in 1970 under the sponsorship of Constantine and Antonieta Correia. Peter was fortunate to find work at Lucerne Foods Ltd as a general labourer and moved into an office job with the same company, after four years. He retired from this position in 1996, with twenty six years of service to the company.

Peter enjoyed spending time with his family, camping, fishing, gardening, singing in the church choir and watching his favourite NHL team, the Montreal Canadiens. Although quiet in nature, he was known and loved for his generous heart and quirky sense of humour.
