The Funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Augustine's Catholic Church, 5009 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Thursday, June 9, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. Burial followed at the Taber Memorial Garden.

Anne will be missed and forever remembered by her son Ken (Marilyn) Perl of Lethbridge and her daughter Pat Perl of Taber; granddaughters Michelle (Greg) Imeson, Nicole (Tyler) Stanko, Victoria (Robert) Henry and Stephanie (Stuart) Robertson and by nine great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law Mary Sekura, Kathy (Stan) Machacek, Marcie Ovendun and by numerous nieces and nephews. “Mom was close to her family; she truly loved us all.”

She was predeceased by her husband Tony Perl; parents William and Helena Kusnir; son-in-law Gary Bodnar; sister and brother-in-law Mary and Alex Molnar and their son John; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Michael and Florence Perl and their daughter Judy Hafner; brothers-in-law Joseph Sekura, John Perl and Walter Ovendun.

Anne was born in Taber April 15, 1930. She and Tony, the love of her life, were married November 15, 1949 and they resided on the family farm east of Taber. Life on an irrigation farm in the early post war years meant long hours in the field spring through fall and feeding cattle in winter’s often harsh conditions. Through it all, Anne remained a devoted wife and partner to Tony until his passing in 1993. Their hard work yielded the satisfaction of accomplishment while they enjoyed spending whatever spare time they had visiting family and friends. She was a great cook, treating family and friends to many of her specialty dishes. Tony ran a threshing crew in the 50s and feeding those men three squares a day gave her life experience in providing for a whole lot of hungry people at one sitting. Her cabbage rolls were extraordinary (no toothpicks needed to maintain integrity) and her gingerbread ‘men’ were a big hit at all school events. Anne was also an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed a number of crafts including quilting, ceramics and beadwork. She would spend hours decorating Easter eggs (pysanka) with amazing results. She was an avid grower of vegetables and any plant that needed tending as well as tending to her flock as mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and friend. Anne was dedicated to volunteer service with St. Augustine’s Catholic Women’s League in serving a number of executive roles and rarely missed a shift at catering events which the group did to raise funds as well as provide a community service.

Anne continued living on the farm after Tony’s passing before moving into Taber in 2007. With less involvement on the farm, she found more time for team bowling, as well as volunteer service with Communities in Bloom, Taber Irrigation Impact Museum and with the Catholic Women’s League, in which she held a lifetime membership. She wrote a regular column in the local newspaper for the Taber museum, researching and sharing stories of the past gleaned from Taber archives. Over time, she resided at Clearview Lodge, Linden View and most recently at the Edith Cavell Care Centre.
