John Hiebert

1948 - 2022

John Walter Hiebert, a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, passed away in Taber on Sunday, September 18, 2022 at the age of 74 years.

The Funeral Service was held at the Evangelical Mennonite Church, 5001 - 64 Avenue, Taber on Wednesday, September 21, 2022 at 1:30 P.M. Burial followed at the Taber Memorial Garden.

Besides his wife Kathy, John is survived by their two children Anita (Dan) and Rod (Adelee); two grandchildren Shaela, Blayne and great grandchild Emyrss. He is also survived by two sisters Trudy Klassen, Maryanne Dean and a large extended family including several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his father Peter on December 11, 1996, his mother Katharina on November 1, 2004 and his sister Debbie in November of 1965.

John was born to Peter and Katherine Hiebert on June 30, 1948 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. His first job was with Carnation Foods in Carberry, Manitoba. From there, he moved to working in Virden, Manitoba where he met Kathy Nickel. Kathy and John were married in 1970 and had two children, Anita and Rod. John challenged the motor mechanic ticket in 1976 and in 1977 started working at Hi-Way Service/Case in Taber. He worked there for twenty six years before moving on to working at 2003 Milliken Farm Supply in Taber. John retired in 2013. He really enjoyed his years supporting local farmers. He found joy in helping others and telling stories of his adventures. After his retirement, John could be found in his woodworking shop creating clocks and pepper and coffee grinders.
