She is also survived by her great grandchildren Wyatt, Tianna, Aurora, Wynn, Rowen, Lacey, Tyler, Ryker, Kayla, Blakelee, Joel and Zander as well as her great great grandchildren Tina, Lily and Emma; sisters-in-law Edi Reber and Margaret O'Donovan as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband William; infant son Robert; parents Lula and William Reber; five brothers Gordon (Helen), Orville (Elsie), Vern (Velva), Glen (Lorraine) and Dwayne.

Joyce was born on August 19, 1930 in Lethbridge, the only daughter of Lula and William Reber. On January 7, 1948, Joyce married Bill Rachue and for the next number of years worked in the cook house for the trucking company Bill worked for hauling gravel. Trucking was a job which took the family all over Alberta as well as into Saskatchewan. In 1955 Joyce and Bill bought their farm northwest of Grassy Lake where they continued to farm until retiring in 1977 to the town of Grassy Lake. In 2002 they recognized that the time had come for another move, and they moved into Pioneer Place in Taber. Bill passed away in 2008 and Joyce moved into Clearview Lodge in 2013 where she resided until recently when she moved to Linden View care facility.

Joyce loved all her family dearly and spent many hours cooking, gardening and taking care of grandchildren. To many of the children in Grassy Lake she was known as the “cookie lady” as a cookie and a cool drink could always be had if they stopped by to visit. Joyce also loved to read and sew and enjoyed these pastimes until her eyesight failed in the last few years. She will be especially remembered for her strength, kindness and generosity. Joyce had a wonderful memory for dates and family events and would amaze the family right to the end with knowledge of family history.

If friends so desire, memorial tributes in Joyce’s name may be made directly to a charity of one’s choice.

The family would like to thank Dr. Torrie and all the staff at the Taber Hospital, Clearview Lodge and Linden View care facility for their care and compassion. It has been greatly appreciated.
