1924 - 2008

Lawrence Allan Owen, beloved husband of Emma (Rossol) Owen of Wrentham, passed away at home on Thursday, December 18, 2008 at the age of 84 years.
Lawrence was born to Leslie Frank and May Alzona Owen on September 24, 1924 at Wrentham, Alberta. He was raised and lived in the Wrentham community until his passing. He joined the Canadian Army in 1941 and served his country till 1945. He married Emma Rossol on June 19, 1950 in Taber, Alberta. Lawrence was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He had been heard to say “that he had done everything that he had wanted to do”.
Lawrence especially enjoyed watching Anton perform in the Special Olympics, golfing and fishing with his daughters and all his grandchildren. His life held much laughter and entertainment provided by his love of farming and sports: baseball and basketball in his early years. Lawrence always enjoyed hunting, fishing and especially golf in his later years. His longhorn cattle brought him much joy and he loved to show them to everyone. Lawrence had many friends and acquaintances who loved to visit, socialize and listen to his life experiences.
He is survived by his wife Emma (Rossol) Owen, two daughters; Dixie (Dean) Bach and Roxie (Larry) Veverka; five grandchildren Kourteney Bach, Doemonica (David) Fedoruk, Tristan (Jennifer), Anton and Layton Veverka; two great grandchildren Mataya and Austin Veverka; two sisters Mary Tilbrook of Calgary and Lily May Friesen of Great Falls and sisters-in-law Lydia (Rossol) Owen and Ida Rossol. He had many nieces and nephews. Lawrence was predeceased by two brothers Clifford and Douglas, sister-in law Jessie and brothers- in- law Jack Tilbrook of Calgary and Henry Friesen of Great Falls, Montana.
The Funeral Service will be held at the Wrentham Community Church, Wrentham on Sunday December 21, 2008 at 1:30 p.m. with Reverend Jim Chapman officiating. Interment will follow at the Wrentham Community Cemetery.
