STEVE ELL

1929 - 1998

Steve Ell of Grassy Lake, beloved husband of Violet Ell, went to be with the Lord on Monday, August 3, 1998 due to a tragic farm accident, at the age of 69 years.
Steve was born on the farm south of Grassy Lake, one of seven children. He later met and married Violet Gross of Grassy Lake on November 4, 1953.
Besides his loving wife Violet, Steve is survived by his children, three daughters Valerie Ell of Lethbridge, Alanna (Jack) Schellhorn of Calgary, Roxane (Dwayne) Selvig of Lethbridge and one son Steven Jr. who lives on the farm with his parents; one granddaughter Jaclyne Jaye Selvig of Lethbridge; a sister Stephina (Harold) Martin of Calgary; two brothers Frank (Loaine) and William (Dee) Ell both of Taber; two sisters-in-law Terry Ell and Julia Ell; numerous nieces and nephews and also by brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Ben (Arliss) Gross, Marvin (Eileen) Gross, LaVern (Evelyn) Gross, Duane (Lorelei) Gross, Rose (Ron) Knibb and their families.
Steve was predeceased by a baby daughter Virgina-Lee (1957); his parents John (1960) and Frances (1981) Ell; a sister Kate Schatz (1990) and her husband Peter Schatz (1990); two brothers Tom (1997) and John (1984).
Steve enjoyed spending time playing guitar and singing on holidays with his family and friends. He very much loved visiting with people and enjoyed hockey and baseball games. Steve was very active in his church, as a parish council leader several times in his adult years, was a member of the Knights Of Columbus for forty six years and was also very active in the Burdett and Grassy Lake Communities.
Steve’s philosophy was “love thy neighbour” and he lived up to that, always there to help whomever. Steve loved his family and granddaughter and will forever be missed by all. “Smiles are made to be given and received” and Steve shared many with all of us.
Relatives and friends were invited for Prayers at the Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Thursday, August 6, 1998 at 7:30 P.M.
The Funeral Mass was celebrated at the Assumption Catholic Church, Grassy Lake on Friday, August 7, 1998 at 10:30 A.M. with Reverend David Meadows Celebrant and Reverend Dick Marino con-Celebrant. Interment followed at the Assumption Cemetery.
