FRANCIS DANFORTH

1919 - 1998

Francis Danforth passed away near Taber on Sunday, August 30, 1998 age 78 years.
Francis was born at Shamrock, Saskatchewan in December of 1919 to Albert and Hazel Danforth. In 1940 he came with his parents and five siblings to the Rolling Hills district. During the fortys, he worked on the CP Rail and later married Alice Nimo in 1945. They lived in Lethbridge and during this time he studied the electrical trade. In 1955 they moved to Foremost where he operated Danforth Rural Electric. Later he and his sons David and Douglas operated a trucking business. Recently and until the time of his passing, he ran a depot for redeemable cans and bottles.
Francis is survived by his wife Alice (nee Nimo) of Lethbridge; a daughter Nina Virostek of Lethbridge; a son Douglas (Ella) of Rainier; three grandchildren Craig and Kimberly Danforth and Stacey Virostek; two brothers Kenneth of Nanaimo, British Columbia and Fred (Shirley) of Taber; two sisters Dorothy (Sandy) Burrows of Harrison Hot Springs, British Columbia and Helen Zebroski of Calgary. He is also survived by a sister-in-law Sandra of Lethbridge as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Francis was predeceased by his parents Albert and Hazel; a brother Donald; a son David; son-in-law Tom Virostek; sisters-in-law Colleen and June and a brother-in-law Mike Zebroski.
The Funeral Service was held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 6004 - 51 Street, Taber on Friday, September 4, 1998 at 2:00 P.M.
