GEORGE REDEL

1927 - 1999

George Robert Redel, beloved husband of Doris Redel of Lethbridge, passed away peacefully in his sleep at home on Tuesday, January 5, 1999 at the age of 71 years.
George was born in Taber on March 2, 1927 where he received his schooling. He worked briefly in the oil fields and on July 19, 1950 he married Doris Jasman. George farmed with his brother-in-law Charlie Hamman and during the winter months he helped his father manage the Royal Hotel in Burdett. He also worked as an ice maker at the Taber Curling Rink and in 1968 he commenced employment with Carnation Foods. In 1972 he started work with the Canadian Sugar Factory, retiring in 1988. George had a keen interest in world affairs and enjoyed fishing, woodworking,cooking, travelling and reading. He will be fondly remembered for his great sense of humor which was evident by the twinkle in his eyes.
George leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife Doris, after forty eight years of marriage and his four children David Redel (Karen Murray) of Regina, Sheila Redel of Winnipeg, Richard (Wendy) Redel of Calgary and Shannon (Blair) Fraser of Orleans, Ontario; five beloved grandchildren Adria, Wyatt and Scott Fraser, Emily and Jordan Redel; two sisters Bessie Hamman of Lethbridge, Vera (Jack) Barton of Calgary and also by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and in-laws.
He was predeceased by his parents George and Sarah Redel, a sister Kathleen Michael and two brothers-in-law.
The Funeral Service was held at the Knox United Church, 4929 - 50 Avenue, Taber on Friday, January 8, 1999 at 2:00 P.M. with Reverend Ken Crassweller officiating. Interment took place on Sunday, January 10, 1999 at the Taber Memorial Garden.
