ARNOLD ODLAND

1919 - 2003

Sam Arnold Odland, beloved husband of Lucille Odland of Taber, passed away on Wednesday, April 2, 2003 at the age of 83 years.
Arnold was born at Sundial, Alberta on September 26, 1919. He owned Taber Frozen Foods from 1945 to 1974, at which time he sold out and retired. Arnold was active within the community of Taber as he served on Taber Town Council for four years; the Taber School Division Board for six years; formed the Taber Jaycees in 1947 and was its first president; past president and past Lieutenant Governor of Kiwanis; president of the Alberta Quick Freeze Locker Association for two years; member of the “Taber Melletones” Quartet for seventeen years and was a member of Knox United Church and sang in the choir for over twenty years. Arnold was an avid baseball player and fan and still played on a U.S.A. Championship Team at the age of eighty years.
He will be forever remembered by his wife Lucille; his children Allan (Evelyn) Odland of Lethbridge, Dianne (Abe) Wall of Taber, Bonnie Lee (Brian) Hall of Lethbridge, Heather (John) Evanson of Oakville, Ontario and Pat (Bryan Corns) Bonette of Taber; 16 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Arnold was predeceased by his parents, grandsons Clinton Hall and Michael Wall and his sister and brother-in-law Judith and Tex Brule.
Relatives and friends were invited to meet with the family at the Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Friday, April 4, 2003 from 7:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M.
The Funeral Service was held at Knox United Church, 4929 - 50 Avenue, Taber on Saturday, April 5, 2003 at 1:00 P.M. with Reverend Jim Lochhead officiating. Interment followed in the Taber Memorial Garden.
