KAY JANSEN

1953 - 1999

Catharina Jansen, beloved wife of Tony Jansen of Taber, passed away on Tuesday, April 6, 1999 at the age of 66 years.
Kay was born to Frank and Maria Vanden Dungen on March 14, 1933 in Eersul, Holland. On April 30, 1953 along with her parents and ten brothers and sisters, she came to Canada settling in Barnwell. Kay married Tony Jansen on November 24, 1956 in Picture Butte and later moved to Midnapore and then Calgary where they resided until 1971. That year they moved to Vauxhall area where they had purchased a farm. In 1995 they retired to Taber. Kay was an active member within her church, singing with the choir and participating in the Live In movement. She had strong beliefs and touched the lives of many people. Kay was very well liked and often called “Mom” by many of those who knew her. In her leisure time, Kay liked to crochet and make arts and crafts and had a keen interest in calligraphy which became her style of writing.
Besides her husband Tony, she is survived by her children Deeny (Rod) Unruh and their children Jenny, Leslie and Anthony of Vauxhall; Maria (Garry) Hoard and their children Melissa, Nicci and Trevor of Calgary; Francis (Laurie) Jansen and their children Ashley, Ty and Mackenzie of Taber; Peter (Chantal) Jansen and their daughter Emma of Cresent Valley, British Columbia; a daughter-in-law Carol (Bill) Stratton and their family Chad and Tammy. Kay is also survived by her brothers and sisters Harry (Grace) Vanden Dungen, Anne Hermary, Wilma Heal, Peter (Fenny) Vanden Dungen, Gerald (Theresa) Vanden Dungen, Ricky Vander Heide, Jake (Simone) Vanden Dungen, Frank (Ellen) Dungen and Joe Vanden Dungen.
Kay was predeceased by her parents Frank and Maria Vanden Dungen, two sons, Robert, Adrian and a sister Betsy.
Relatives and friends were invited to Prayers at St. Augustine’s Catholic Church, 5009 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Thursday, April 8, 1999 at 7:00 P.M.
The Funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Augustine’s Catholic Church on Friday, April 9, 1999 at 10:30 A.M. with Reverend Jim de los Angeles Celebrant. Interment followed at the Vauxhall Cemetery at 2:30 P.M.
