1930 - 1999

Martha Glas, beloved wife of Albert Glas of Hays, passed away on Sunday, June 27, 1999 at the age of 68 years.
Martha was born on November 4, 1930 in Bracken, Saskatchewan, the daughter of John and Emma Holst. She attended school in Monchy, Saskatchewan and later moved with her parents and siblings to Masefield. It was here that she met Albert Glas and married him in 1951. A year later they moved to Hays where they took up a homestead. Martha loved to garden, dance, cook for her family and in her spare time enjoyed crocheting. She was generous and always willing to lend a helping hand. Her greatest joy in life was her family and grandchildren.
Martha leaves to cherish her memory her husband Albert; children and grandchildren Garry (Deanna) Glas of Vauxhall and their children Kim, Breanne and Steven; Bev (Keith) Ofner of Vauxhall and their sons David and Paul; Barry (Angie) Glas of Hays and their daughters Lindsay and Brooklyn; her 101 year old father John Holst of Taber; one sister Clara (Bill) Wowniar of Edmonton; three brothers Walter Holst of Vancouver, Lawrence Holst of Calgary and Martin (Myrna) Holst of Hays.
She was predeceased by her mother Emma and two brothers Leo and Joseph.
Relatives and friends met for Prayers at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 324 - 2 Avenue North, Vauxhall on Thursday, July 1, 1999 at 7:30 P.M.
The Funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 324 - 4 Avenue North, Vauxhall on Friday, July 2, 1999 at 11:00 A.M. with Reverend Jozef Perehubka Celebrant. Interment followed at the Vauxhall Cemetery.
