OTT DELL

1916 - 2002

Ott Lloyd Dell, beloved husband of Virginia Dell of Taber, formerly of Vauxhall, passed away on Sunday, May 26, 2002 at the age of 85 years.
Ott was born near Fairview, Oklahoma on June 23, 1916, the son of George and Mary Dell. The son of a brick layer, they lived in various locations, wherever the work was, and at the age of 12 years came to Canada. He was married, by a travelling minister, to Virginia Conner on July 9, 1942 at Kinlock School, as there were no churches near by. Ott, along with Virginia and her brother formed and played in an orchestra. His working years were spent as a construction supervisor. He was known for his ability to pull jokes on people, loved to play cards, dance, fish and camp. His passion in life was curling and when he could no longer curl he wouldn’t miss a game on T.V. His grandchildren will cherish their memories of camping and fishing with grandpa, even though they caught more fish than he did. He was an Honorary member of the Royal Canadian Legion #193 in Vauxhall where he lived for many years.
He will be forever remembered and missed by his wife Virginia; three children Howard (Bev) Dell, Terry (Anne) Dell and Blaine (Gail) Dell; seven grandchildren; two great grandchildren; two brothers Alvin (Marlene) Dell and Gerald (Kathy) Dell; sisters-in-law Helen Conner, Jean (Llyall Graham) and Jessie Dell; nieces and nephews Janet & Susan Connolly, Della Huber, Marge & Alice Dell, Pam, Patti & Linda Dell, Harold & George Dell, Robert Dell, Jim, Jack, Bobby & Larry Connolly.
Ott was predeceased by his parents George and Mary Dell and brother Elmer Dell.
The Funeral Service was held at the Vauxhall Mennonite Brethren Church, 320 - 9 Street North, Vauxhall on Wednesday, May 29, 2002 at 2:00 P.M. with Pastor Dan Doerksen officiating. Interment followed in the Vauxhall Cemetery.
If friends so desire, memorial tributes in Ott’s name may be made to the Tom Baker Cancer Centre, 1331 - 29 Street N.W., Calgary, Alberta T2N 4N2.
