LUVELLA ELL

1904 - 1999

Luvella Ell of Grassy Lake, beloved wife of the late Roy Ell, passed away peacefully in Taber on Monday, August 30, 1999 at the age of 95 years.
Luvella was born June 18, 1904 in Harvey, North Dakota and moved to Canada in 1917, with her parents Philip and Ottilia Gross and her siblings to the Grassy Lake area. She married Roy Ell on November 11, 1922. They lived and worked in several places in Southern Alberta and in 1936 moved to the original John Ell Sr. homestead. They retired to Grassy Lake in 1957. Luvella was a member of the Catholic Women’s League for sixty four years.
She is survived by a daughter Helen (Gordon) Reber of Bowden; two sons Philip (Josephine) Ell of Grassy Lake and Edward (Ella) Ell of Calgary; two sisters Mary Unser of Foremost and Helen Roth of Bow Island; grandchildren Dona (Charles) Giles, Gerald (Florence) Reber, Brian (Pegi) Fedoruk, Bonnie (Charlie) Hogeslag, Kevin (Jane) Fedoruk, Colleen (Randy) Richards, Calvin (Patti) Ell, Marilyn Lanz, James (Laura) Ell, Sharlene (Fred) Voeller, Darlene (Rick) Bauer, Debbie (Dennis) Sheen, Roy (Lynda) Ell, Patsy Ell, Karolyn (Robert) Shields, Leanne Ell and David Ell; thirty one great grandchildren and nine great great grandchildren.
Besides her husband Roy, she was predeceased by a baby son; a daughter and son-in-law Tillie and William Fedoruk; two sisters and their husbands Barbara and Lawrence Ell and Pauline and Tony Unser; three brothers and their wives Joseph and Elizabeth Gross, Andrew and Jenny Gross and Frank and Hilda Gross; and also by two brothers-in-law George Unser and Tom Roth.
Relatives and friends were invited to Prayers at the Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Thursday, September 2, 1999 at 7:00 P.M.
The Funeral Mass was celebrated at Assumption Catholic Church, Grassy Lake on Friday, September 3, 1999 at 11:00 A.M. with Reverend Jim de los Angeles Celebrant. Interment followed at the Assumption Cemetery, Grassy Lake.
