LLOYD BRODERSON

1923 - 2001

Lloyd Broderson, beloved husband of Ethel Broderson of Vauxhall, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, at the Lethbridge Regional Hospital on Friday, February 9, 2001 one day short of his 78th birthday.
Lloyd was born February 10, 1923 on the family farm in Retlaw, Alberta. Lloyd married Ethel Vallieres on November 6, 1947.
Besides Ethel, his loving wife of 53 years, he will be sadly missed by his children Bryon (Donna), Bruce (Kathy), Brenda (Garry) Gillespie, Brent (Kathy) and Terry (Trina); fifteen grandchildren Kevin (Natalie), Lyle (Jenny), Michael (Amber), Marty (Shannon), Tyler, Steven, Scott, Denise, Alan, Brad, Jason, Gord, Michaela, Jared and Jayden; five great grandchildren Chantele, Chase, Brittany, Brayden and Trey; two brothers George (Leita) and Ervin (Dorothy); numerous nieces and nephews and one very special niece Bev Bahler.
Lloyd was predeceased by his granddaughter Robin in 1993; sister Irene Secrist in 1992; father Frank in 1947; mother Emma in 1983; father-in-law Henry Vallieres in 1983 and mother-in-law Mary Vallieres in 1984.
Lloyd attended Lonestar School in Retlaw and served overseas in World War II from 1943 to 1946. Lloyd was actively involved in farming right up to the time of his passing. He was especially fond of his black cows and horses.
Lloyd was a long time active member and past president of various organizations including the Legion, Lions, Seniors Curling and Saddle Club. He was always ready and willing to lend a helping hand when needed.
Lloyd took great pride in his horse and buggy. Weddings were a happy occasion for Lloyd as he enjoyed taking many brides to the Church. He was a devoted family man who enjoyed rodeos, camping, playing cards and travelling in their motorhome. His proudest times were when he was surrounded by his family. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and will be sadly missed and remembered with love by his family. He was a kind, caring and generous person who was a wonderful example to all who knew him. We love you.
Relatives and friends were invited to meet with the family at the Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Monday, February 12 from 7:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M.
The Funeral Service was held at the Vauxhall Mennonite Brethren Church, 320 - 9 Street North, Vauxhall on Tuesday, February 13, 2001 at 2:00 P.M. with Reverend Jim Lochhead, United Church of Canada, officiating. Interment followed in the Vauxhall Cemetery.
