1941 - 2001

Barbara Anne Kurina (nee Hunt), beloved wife of Henry Kurina of Cranford, passed away peacefully at the Lethbridge Regional Hospital on Sunday, February 25, 2001 at the age of 59 years, surrounded by her family and lifelong friend Alma Bluekens, after a long and courageous battle with rheumatoid arthritis.
Barbara was born on March 27, 1941 in Lethbridge. She married Henry Kurina on November 15, 1961 and settled in Cranford on the family farm, raising her family and enjoying a rich and rewarding life.
Besides her devoted husband Henry, she leaves to mourn, her mother Ruth Hunt of Lethbridge; brother Tom (Mary Jane) Hunt of Nanaimo, British Columbia; a sister-in-law Janet Hunt of Lethbridge; her children, Rhonda Friesen, Christine (Paul) Uhryn, Richard (Dianne) Kurina and Denise Kurina (Tyler Johns); four beautiful grandchildren, Samson, Maxwell and Jackson Uhryn and Robyn Friesen, who were the apple of her eye. Barbara is also survived by Henry’s family as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was predeceased by her father William Hunt and brother Bill.
Barbara will be remembered by those who knew her well, as courageous, independent and determined to live life beyond the limitations of her illness. Her sparkling sense of humor and willingness to give of herself, despite her pain, will be greatly missed by those who love her.
Relatives and friends were invited for Prayers at St. Augustine’s Catholic Church, 5009 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Monday, March 5, 2001 at 7:00 P.M.
The Funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Augustine’s Catholic Church, 5009 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Tuesday, March 6, 2001 at 10:30 A.M. with Reverend Jim de los Angeles
Celebrant. Interment followed at the Taber Memorial Garden.
