ELMER CHRISTIANSEN

1908 - 1999

Elmer Christiansen, beloved husband of Mildred Christiansen, passed away on Thursday, December 30, 1999 at the age of 91 years.
Elmer was born on December 22, 1908 at the family farm near Bentley, the son of Jens and Marie Christiansen. On August 29, 1933 in Medicine Hat he married Mildred Brooks. They farmed near Turin for many years before moving to the Town of Vauxhall. For nearly the past twenty five years they have resided in Taber enjoying their retirement. Elmer liked to go for coffee, play shuffleboard and enter crib tournaments in his retirement years. In his earlier years he spent some of his leisure time fishing and curling. Elmer was a dedicated and proud family man. All of his life, his family was his top priority. Spending time with his grandchildren was very special to him. His sense of humor and story telling will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
Besides his loving wife Mildred, he will be remembered by his children Stewart (Cheri), Gary (Rita) and Melva (Ken) Osterman,; two sisters, Minnie (Oscar) Barley and Marion (Lyle) Buchanan; ten grandchildren and ten great grandchildren as well as numerous brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Elmer was predeceased by a son Ronald Elmer; his sisters Anna Hansen, Ella Pederson, Emma Christiansen, Olga Speaker, Myrtle Reynolds and Ida Carlson; and his brothers Tenus, Albert, Alvin, Carl and Lawrence.
Relatives and friends were invited to meet with the family at the Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Monday, January 3, 2000 from 7:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M.
The Funeral Service was held at Knox United Church, 4929 - 50 Avenue, Taber on Tuesday, January 4, 2000 at 10:30 A.M. with Reverend Ken Crassweller officiating. Interment followed at the Taber Memorial Garden.
