1911 - 2001

Fumi Nagata of Edmonton, beloved wife of the late Hideo Nagata, passed away in Edmonton on Wednesday, June 27, 2001 at the age of 90 years.
She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her son, Ryo (Estrid) and her daughter Miiko (Akira); nine grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
Fumi was predeceased by her husband Hideo in 1995 and her grandson Bill.
Fumi was born in Kagoshima, Japan in 1911. After her marriage she immigrated to Canada in 1930 and lived in Ocean Falls, British Columbia. Her family was evacuated to the Lethbridge area in 1942. Fumi lived most of her life in Lethbridge and in her later years lived at the Clearview Lodge in Taber. After her husband passed away she went to live in Edmonton. Besides being a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she was a wonderful cook and enjoyed cooking for her family and friends. She was also keenly interested in flower arranging and gardening.
The Funeral Service was held at the Lethbridge Buddhist Church, 1303 - 13 Street North, Lethbridge on Saturday, July 7, 2001 at 10:00 A.M.
Interment followed at the Mountain View Cemetery.
