OLIVE TURNBULL

1923 - 2000

Olive Turnbull, beloved wife of the late Harold Neil Turnbull, passed away in Taber on Saturday, April 29, 2000 at the age of 76 years.
Olive was born on May 11, 1923 at Dodsland, Saskatchewan. The family moved to Ontario where she was raised. Olive met and married Harold, who was serving with the RCAF. They were married on June 30, 1943. Following the war they returned to Alberta settling at Grassy Lake and later to Taber.
Olive was an active member of the Eastern Star, the Knox United Church Ladies 55 Unit and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #20. She enjoyed camping, fishing, curling, golfing and playing cards. She will be lovingly remembered for her sense of humor and will be sadly missed by her five children, ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Olive’s family includes a son, James (Donna) of Edmonton and their family Sheri (Anil) Pereira, Lucie, Bennett and Henry of San Carlos, California, Mark (Kolinda) and Nicole of St. Albert; a son Robert (Melanee) of Langley, British Columbia and their sons Boyd and Leigh; a son Dwaine (Jo Anne) of Taber and their family Carey of Taber, Tammy (Fred) Black and Miranda of Provost, Alberta; a daughter Elaine (Blayne) Nowell of Edmonton and their family Craig (Helen) of Edmonton, Valerie (Brayland) Mitchell of Edmonton; and a son Gordon (Donna) and their daughters Cayley and Brianne of Taber. Olive is also survived by a sister Beatrice (Don) Moore, as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Harold in 1996, her parents, an infant daughter, three sisters and two brothers.
Relatives and friends were invited to meet with the family at the Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Tuesday, May 2, 2000 from 7:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M.
The Funeral Service was held at Knox United Church, 4929 - 50 Avenue, Taber on Wednesday, May 3, 2000 at 2:00 P.M. with Reverend Ken Crassweller officiating. Burial followed at the Taber Memorial Garden.
