IRENE ROSS

1921 - 2000

Irene Marie Ross passed away peacefully at the Lethbridge Regional Hospital, on Tuesday, May 16, 2000 at the age of 78 years.
Irene was born on the McAndrews homestead near Retlaw on July 25, 1921 the daughter of Walter and Rose McAndrews. With Ol' Chubb leading the buggy, she attended the Retlaw School and described her school years as the “Good Old Days”. In 1942 , Irene married her first husband Raymond (Happy) Seely, farmed with him and began a family with the birth of a son, Terry in 1946. A short time later, Happy passed away as a result of a farm accident leaving Irene to raise their 14 month old son. In 1950, she married Jack Ross Jr. and began their life together farming. In 1954 the family was completed with the birth of a daughter, Valerie. They continued to farm until 1965 when they moved to Lethbridge and invested in two car washes (Sof-Spray). Again, tragedy struck the family with Jack passing away in 1968. Irene continued on with the family business and decided to sell it in 1970, and retired in Lethbridge. Irene made many friends in her lifetime and enjoyed dancing, rodeos camping and visiting with new friends and old school friends.
Irene will be remembered by her children, a daughter Valerie (Lyle) Davis and and a son Terry Seely (Lorraine); her grandchildren Grayson Davis, Jacqueline Davis, Kevin Davis and Rhonda Davis, Andrea (Jeff) Brodowski and Reece Seely; and a sister Kay Marsh as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents Walter and Rose McAndrews, her first husband Raymond (Happy) Seely in 1947; her second husband Jack Ross Jr. in 1968; a special friend Tommy Miller; a sister Melba McPherson and a brother Roy McAndrews.
