W. Garth Ledgerwood, beloved husband of Mrs. Agnes “Nessie” Ledgerwood of Taber, passed away on Monday, October 16, 2000 at the age of 75 years.
Besides his wife Nessie, Garth is survived by a son Bryce of Taber; two daughters, Lorraine (Bill) Taylor of Calgary and Heather (Blake) Asplund of Calgary; eight grandchildren, Kerry and Kim Ledgerwood of Vancouver, British Columbia; James, Marilou and Lauren Asplund of Calgary; Scott and Meghan Taylor of Calgary and Sommer Ledgerwood of Perth, Australia; a sister Inez Cliffe of Comox, British Columbia as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Garth was predeceased by two sons, Garry in 1946 and Reid in 1976; and a granddaughter Trisha in 1971.
Garth was born August 20, 1925 in Medicine Hat. He resided in Taber until he enlisted in the Armed Forces during WWII. He served overseas, where he met and married Nessie Thompson in Edinburgh on May 7, 1945. They returned to Taber in 1946 and later moved to Brooks. Garth and Ness returned to Taber in 1991 where they spent their retirement golfing with many friends and enjoying family.
The Funeral Service was held at St. Theodore’s Anglican Church 5120 - 44 Avenue, Taber on Saturday, October 21, 2000 at 2:00 P.M. with Reverend Dale Lang officiating. Burial followed at the Taber Memorial Garden.
