LOUISA IRVING

1906 - 2000

Louisa Elizabeth (Dragoo) Irving of Lethbridge, beloved wife of the late Adam Clifford Irving, passed away on Tuesday, November 21, 2000 in her 95th year.
Louisa was born at Taber on January 9, 1906 and was the daughter of John Alonzo and Forrest Euzell (Taylor) Dragoo.
Louisa was active in farming, family and the LDS Church and was an avid gardener, quilter, genealogist and artist. The farm, 2 1/2 miles west of Barnwell, with her large vegetable garden and abundant flower gardens, was nicknamed “Happy Landing”. Anyone stopping by was always welcomed and fed.
Louisa grew up on the sand hills of Purple Springs, herding sheep, cows and horses where she met and married Adam Clifford Irving, whose family owned the Purple Springs store.
She married Cliff in Purple Springs on March 19, 1925. They moved to Barnwell and purchased the family homestead in 1928. They resided there until 1975 when they built a new home in Barnwell. Cliff predeceased her in 1976. In 1983 she moved to Bountiful Apartments and in 1994 moved to the Alberta Rose Lodge. For the past six months she has been hospitalized for a broken hip.
She served her church in many positions; including Primary and Relief Society President, and she taught genealogy and spiritual living for many years.
She will be sadly missed and forever remembered by her children Verna (Leon) Sallenback of Lethbridge, Kenneth Irving of Salt Lake City, Utah, Donna Grunewald of Victoria, British Columbia, Sunny (Walter) Crane of Calgary, Marilyn (Barry) Thomson of Barnwell, Blayne (Carol) Irving of Caldwell, Idaho, and Barilyn (Norman) Sopel of Langley, British Columbia; forty seven grandchildren; ninety great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband Adam Clifford Irving; sisters Roma Moore, Alberta Covey Johnson Starzyk and Nellie Dragoo and brothers Albert Dragoo and Virgil Dragoo.
Relatives and friends were invited to meet with the family at the Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Thursday, November 23, 2000 from 7:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. and also at the Church prior to the service from 12:45 P.M. to 1:45 P.M.
The Funeral Service was held at The Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter-day Saints, Barnwell Chapel, on Friday, November 24, 2000 at 2:00 P.M. with Bishop Marty Johnson conducting. Burial followed in the Barnwell Cemetery.
