LINDA SOWINSKI

1960 - 2000

Linda Jean Sowinski, beloved daughter of Harry and Jean Sowinski, passed away suddenly on December 13, 2000 at the age of 40 Years.
Linda was born on September 25, 1960 in Taber where she was also raised. She graduated in 1978 from St. Mary’s, later taking courses in law enforcement at the Lethbridge Community College.
The outdoors was Linda’s life. Her love of all sports, whether it be coaching softball or hockey, or going out and taking a few swings at the bat herself, fulfilled her in so many ways.
Linda touched the hearts of many people. In 1983 she moved to Kananaskis where she worked for the Kananaskis Inn. In 1991 she moved to Calgary where she worked as a day care provider. In 1996, Linda moved to Lethbridge where she did volunteer work. She was the President of the Brain Trauma Injury Support Group. Many will remember her by the volunteering she did at the Lethbridge Regional Hospital gift store, numerous bingo events and at Ten Thousand Villages. Linda lived life to the fullest. She enjoyed people. Her family and friends and especially her nephews and her only niece meant so much to her. Linda had a heart of gold and she is going to be truly missed. She is survived by her beloved parents, Harry and Jean Sowinski of Taber; a sister Shirley (Ed) Derksen and Wesley, Jordan, Lindsay and Ryan of Taber; a brother, Bill (Annette) Sowinski and Dustin, Mathew and Zachary of Estevan, Sask; and a sister Lisa (Darcy Adams) and Travis, Morgan (Leonard Astalos) of Taber as well as numerous aunts, uncles and friends.
Relatives and friends were invited to Prayers at the Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Friday, December 15, 2000 at 7:00 P.M. with Deacon Mike Whalen officiating.
The Funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Augustine’s Catholic Church, 5009 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Saturday, December 16, 2000 at 10:30 A.M. with Reverend Father Jim de los Angeles Celebrant. Burial followed at the Taber Memorial Garden.
